Before you deploy to the harsh, untamed lands begging for democracy’s swift salvation, you’ll want to know some helpful tips and tricks for survival. There are plenty of secrets you might not know were possible in Helldivers 2, but we’re happy to enlighten you before you make planetfall. So listen up, as using these will surely prove you worthy of your cape!
Use Satellite Data to Find Secrets in Helldivers 2
You’re already the best of the best, but these secrets will help you stay stocked up against the alien threats swarming in Helldivers 2. If you complete objectives like Retrieve Valuable Data or anything involving a satellite dish, check your map afterward, where you’ll see all POIs possible in your mission.
Check your map to see lots of markers, such as gem icons, giving you plenty to seek out before you call in extraction. Remember: Completing the objective is crucial; everything else, including extraction, is just gravy.
Look for Buried Storage Caches and Other POIs
While exploring, if you don’t have the satellite survey data, you can watch for trenches with what looks like blue or red shipping containers. Blow these up with grenades and enter for Medals, Requisition points, and even Stratagem weapons!
Blast Doors Conceal Great Secrets in Helldivers 2
Bring an ally, as you’ll occasionally come across blast doors with a button on each side; you’ll need your ally to press one button at the same time you press the other to open it. Inside are valuable supply caches and even medals or other valuable loot.
You Can Swap Your Camera Angle for Combat
If you’re having trouble aiming, you can enter controller input settings to swap sides on the camera! Oddly enough, they have it defaulted to long-pressing the Down button on the d-pad, which conflicts with another feature. Instead, reassign it, such as by long-pressing the Right button.
While survival is not mandatory on these missions, it is instrumental in helping you live on to die for Super Earth’s liberty!
Customize Your Weapon Settings in Missions in Helldivers 2
With your chosen weapon equipped, hold the Reload button (Square on the d-pad) to open the weapon wheel. This enables options to customize how your weapon works on the go. This includes handy features like a flashlight if you’re in dark areas and wish to keep it on at all times for visibility.
Aiming Down Your Sights is Always a Worthwhile Option
Pressing R3 while aiming your gun allows you to aim down your sights, an essential tip while using marksman rifles! It’s also fantastic for stabilizing your aim with machine guns, with surprisingly low recoil and kickback.
Adjust Your Range and Aim Distance Through the Weapon Wheel
Pressing up on the weapon wheel can change your aim distance. This feels like a subtle change, but it comes in handy when you’re staging a pre-emptive strike on unsuspecting enemies! Be sure to adjust back when the enemies get close, though, as you’ll be too disoriented in close quarters, especially when aiming down the sights.
Choose the Perfect Fire Rate for Any Situation in Helldivers 2
Pressing right on the weapon wheel can change your rate of fire, as well. This means you can turn the Stalwart into a bug meat grinder with an ungodly fire rate. This also means you can swap from full-auto to semi-auto, such as with the P-19 Redeemer.
There’s No Such Thing As Too Much Ammo
While wearing the Supply Pack equipment, you can press down on the d-pad, or ‘5’ on the numpad, to resupply. Don’t forget you can always customize this keybinding! This is practically a must for any of you soldiers wanting to bravely fight on solo missions. They’re also packed with extra freedom, we can assure you.
Don’t forget: each supply case fills half your ammo and gear. Reload your guns fully to make sure you get the most value possible from this.
Maverick Secrets for the Worthiest Mad Dogs in Helldivers 2
If you run out of the mission deployment zone, there will be a timer that goes up. If you run up the clock on that timer and sprint towards nearby enemies, this is a renewable orbital strike. But no matter what, you’ll be gunned down for desertion, so bring the enemy down with you! You understand it’s not personal, right? Right, good.
Adding New Meaning to the Phrase “Dead Drop”
If you play with allies and die to a tough enemy, have your ally redeploy you and then mark the enemy as you enter from orbit so you can crush them with your drop pod. Use this on enemies, facilities like bug holes, and more. You don’t fire a single round yet get a glorious victory against the enemy; what’s more cost-efficient than that?
You Can Have Dumb Amounts of Fun with Helldivers 2 Mechanics
If fighting the Automatons on their home turf, you might recognize brown fungus-like clusters. Step on these, and if in need of a quick getaway or a rapid leap from pursuing enemies. Fire at them to be launched in the opposite direction. If you fall off a cliff, the enemy will be responsible for the cleanup.
You Can Pull Tricks with Artillery Shells, but Sadly Not Shell Jumps
You’ll get a slight boost of speed while lugging artillery shells by tapping the action button to rapidly grab and drop the payload. It’s minimal, but every second lost is time wasted when not spreading democracy!
Use Yourself as a Target if Necessary
If you’re surrounded, consider a blaze of glory and throw an Eagle stratagem directly on your position. This will purge the alien menace around you. Just make sure to communicate your plans to your team. Or don’t; they’ll be just as happy to burn for the cause alongside you.
Listen up, soldiers! We’ll say this only once, but if you choose to fight the Automatons or Terminids, and you’re ready to die, be prepared to drown their forces with your bodies. This means even the most foolish mavericks in the Helldivers can earn a hero’s death.
Use these secrets to raise hell on the battlefield and bring the glory and progress of Super Earth to the rest of the galaxy!
