5 Best Base Locations in Enshrouded

The Enshrouded map is pretty big. I’m talking: vast, massive, and honestly difficult to traverse in one sitting. But really, with so much map space, that only means there’s that much base space. But where the heck do you shove down your base when you’re surrounded by enemies everywhere you turn, and nearly none of the terrain is really flat enough to build anything sizeable on? 5. Home Sweet Cinder Vault

It’s no surprise that the first place you enter into the mysterious, foggy land of Embervale is actually quite decent for a base setup. It makes sense since the tutorial even says, “Hey, you there! Set up your base right in this exact spot!” They’re onto something. The ground is flat, so you can build just about everything, and honestly, using a rake and pickaxe to flatten up some extra space isn’t super time-consuming. It’s central to some awesome areas to farm resources, and it’s in a low-level area, so you won’t be dying every time you step foot out of your front door.

4. Egerton Salt Mines

Setting up shop by one of the Salt Mines or Saline Quarries is always a pretty good idea. Not only will you have access to a near-unlimited source of Salt, but you’ll be near the Shroud and able to farm the materials found there without being in constant danger. We chose the Egerton Salt Mines location because it’s not the only important farm within close vicinity to your base. You’ll also be very close to a Shroud Root and Critter Mine, so you’ll have excellent XP farms available as well.

3. Vukah Ceremony Hill

You might not think of the area around an elite enemy’s spawn point as a decent base location, but honestly, you couldn’t be wrong. The Vukah Ceremony Hill is perfect. There are plenty of flat locations for building and loads of open space, so you don’t need to worry about not having room, and it’s a great XP farm location. Not to mention, farming the Vukah Brawler gives you loads of XP, like 225+ for every additional kill after the first, a Vukah Head for trophies, and an epic or legendary weapon. It’s the perfect situation for building up and leveling like crazy.

2. Small Flint Mine

Honestly, since mining and combat are, by far, the best ways to level up in Enshrouded, it only makes sense, yet again, to place your base central to some great mining and fighting locations. The Small Flint Mine location gives you access to loads of Flintstone, making crafting arrows extremely easy. Additionally, this location sits very close to a Shroud Root, which also gives you loads of experience when it is chopped down and unlocks more of the map for you to explore.

1. Ferndale

The best location I’ve found for a base so far is right outside of Ferndale. No, not Ferndale, Michigan, either. Nobody wants to live there. I’m talking about the Ferndale in Enshrouded that’s right next to an Elixir Well, a whole bunch of rapidly spawning enemies, and a town full of raiders. It’s dangerous, kind of chaotic, and excellent for leveling and finding resources quickly, as the surrounding areas are rich in all the basic materials you need to craft just about everything until you hit level 13 and up.
