Enshrouded bases are incredibly important for things like keeping your craftspeople in one place and fast traveling. You’ll soon realize that where you place your first base is very important. We moved our first base around a bit until we finally pinpointed what we felt was the best place to set it down. After a while, it became clear that the best place for a beginner base is much closer than you might think. Using this experience, let’s get into where to build your first Flame Altar base in Enshrouded.

Your very first Flame Altar base in Enshrouded should be at the abandoned and dilapidated village of Longkeep. It’s directly to the left of the area where you can place the base the first time you’re asked to make one. What the game doesn’t tell you is that you don’t actually have to place it down in the place where you’re asked to.

In Longkeep, you already need several resources for a base. A bed, a camp fire, and even a few areas where you can farm wood are readily available. We also used the foundation that was available around the enshrouded areas as part of our base building. We felt that using a readily available town saved a lot more time and resources. There aren’t any enemies you need to be wary of, and the areas directly around them are rich in necessary resources at the beginning of your playthrough. You’ll be able to easily find things like Stone and Plant Fiber without going too far from the base.
