Severance and Big Little Lies star Adam Scott joins Madame Web, Sony’s woman-led superhero flick that releases next year, as reported byย Deadline. He joins the Dakota Johnson-led film with costarsย Mike Epps,ย Sydney Sweeney,ย Isabela Merced,ย Emma Roberts,ย Celeste OโConnor, andย Tahar Rahim. The film will be directed by S.J. Clarkson (Anatomy of a Scandal), with Morbius writers Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless penning the screenplay. An early draft was written by Kerem Sanga (The Violent Heart).
Like most of the cast, with the exception of the lead, it is unknown who Adam Scott plays in Madame Web. The film is set to be a major departure from the comics as reports say it will play more like Doctor Strange rather than having an elderly woman tangled in a web of medical equipment. Johnson’s character will likely have the same psychic powers as the comic book character but will likely have plenty of differences after that. Plot details, like most of the character information, are under wraps.

Landing Madame Web puts Adam Scott in a good position to keep his trajectory moving upward as he is swinging off the hit Apple TV series Severance, which got renewed for a second season along with plenty of Emmy nominations. Recently, the actor has also starred in Loot, Ghostwriter, and between 2017 to 2019, the HBO series Big Little Lies.
Joining Madame Web places Adam Scott in Sony’s universe. The studio started its franchise with Venom, its sequel, and most recently, Morbius. Up next, it has Kraven the Hunter, releasing on January 13th, 2023, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Avengers: Age of Ultron) in the titular role. The Johnson-led film will be a departure from the villainous and anti-hero-focused beginnings with a more traditional superhero. The film will hit theaters on July 7th, 2023.
