Throughout the Final Fantasy series, each entry has brought something interesting to the table. Final Fantasy 16 has brought about an interesting new concept in the form of Eikons. Although these summons are not completely new to the franchise, their applications are much different. Coming in the form of massive creatures, Eikons drive a lot of the story that Final Fantasy 16 has to offer. Many players are excited to explore the interesting designs of these Eikons. Additionally, veteran players are looking out for some returning Eikons that may return to have a large role in the story. Here are the Eikons that will be in the new Final Fantasy game, Final Fantasy 16.

Final Fantasy 16’s Eikons are large, summoned creatures that can be controlled by a special person called a Dominant.  Each Eikon of the new Final Fantasy game possesses an element that is exclusive to them. Of course, as is standard for the series, the game breaks the rules of the Eikons to interesting effects. In the game, these Eikons can fight in massive battles, resembling huge monster movies in size and scope. These fights seem to be a major interest in Final Fantasy 16’s new direction and help contribute to the major role that Eikons play. Overall, Final Fantasy 16 has 8 main Dominants and Eikons in the game.

Ifrit, Clive’s Mysterious Eikon

Each of the Eikons, like previous Final Fantasy summons, comes from various mythologies and stories. The main character of Final Fantasy 16, Clive, possesses the Ifrit Eikon. This Eikon is especially mysterious due to its status as the second Eikon of fire that is in the universe. This situation presents an interesting scenario where both Clive and his brother, Joshua, have Eikons. It seems players are going to get used to Ifrit throughout the game due to its significance to the story overall. Ifrit itself has been in the game since as early as Final Fantasy 3 and has made many appearances since then.

Phoenix, Joshua’s Ekion of Fire

Clive’s younger brother, Joshua, inherited the power of the Phoenix, the original Eikon of fire. Since he now possesses the power of the Phoenix, Joshua is also the heir to the throne of his family kingdom, Rosaria. Joshua himself doesn’t even want this power, however, and views it more as a burden than a blessing. The Phoenix summon itself was introduced in Final Fantasy 5 and has made steady appearances since then.

Shiva, Jill’s Eikon of Ice

Jill is the trusted friend of Clive and Joshua and Clive’s ally throughout the game. After being taken as a political prisoner, Jill was raised as one of the Archduke’s children alongside the two brothers. Her Eikon, Shiva, represents the ice element in the game and can use powerful ice-based attacks. Much like Ifrit, Shiva also made its first appearance in Final Fantasy 3.

Ramuh, Cid’s Eikon of Lightning

Filling in as this game’s “Cid,” Cidolfus Telamon is a soldier turned outlaw and fights against the world’s established authority. Additionally, Cid is also a man of science and conducts many experiments to improve his quality of life in the Deadlands. His Eikon, Ramuh, is the aspect of lightning and can use powerful and explosive lightning attacks. Once again, Ramuh made its first appearance as a summon in Final Fantasy 3.

Garuda, Benedikta Harman’s Eikon of Wind

Benedikta Harman is the intelligencer of the Waloed kingdom, and an antagonist in Clive’s quest. Being raised with a talent for swordplay and subterfuge, Benedikta is both cold and ruthless in battle. Additionally, she is hunting the second Eikon of fire, Ifrit. Her Eikon is Garuda, the Eikon of Wind, which fits her calculated personality very well. Garuda itself has appeared many times as an enemy in the Final Fantasy series. However, it seems to have become a summon in Final Fantasy 14.

Titan, Hugo Kupka’s Eikon of Earth

Hugo Kupka is the economic advisor of the Dhalmekian Republic and is the Dominant of Titan, the Aspect of Earth. After awakening his power, Hugo was thrust from the position of a soldier to a place of extreme power. From here, he leveraged this newfound position to acquire huge amounts of wealth. Additionally, he may have some dealings with Benedikta Harman throughout the game as well. Titan, like many others, first appeared as a summon in Final Fantasy 3.

Bahamut, Dion Lesage’s Eikon of Light

Dion Lesage is the Dominant of Bahamut, the Eikon of Light, and the Prince of Sanbreque. Functioning as a perfect foil to the rugged and imperfect Clive, Dion seems to have a perfect air about him and excels in almost everything. However, things may not be as they seem with the character. His Eikon, Bahamut is a major part of the Final Fantasy franchise and has been around since the first game.

Odin, Barnabus Tharmr’s Eikon of Darkness

Finally, Barnabus Tharmr is the King of Waloed and the Dominant of Odin, the Eikon of Darkness. Overall, Barnabas has a fascination with battle and is very skilled in combat. He not only earned his kingdom through battle but also single-handedly squashed any rebellion against him using Odin’s might. Odin itself first appeared in Final Fantasy 3 and has become a staple summon ever since.
