You’ll quickly notice that there’s a feud going on between the Myconid Colony and the invading Duergar in Baldur’s Gate 3. This adds another layer of depth to this underground with its many mysteries. If you want to know who to choose, we’ll explain the benefits of each one.
Siding With the Myconid Sovereign
The Myconid Colony in Baldur’s Gate 3 is the first place you’ll find provided you enter the Underdark through the Zhentarim hideout. If you do, you’ll encounter this place and unlock various quests. The benefit of siding with the Myconid is that there’s a character there that might help you with your tadpole dilemma. This is big if you want to get rid of this parasite. You’ll find the following quests:
- Cure the Poisoned Gnome
- Find the Mushroom Picker
- Defeat the Duergar Intruders
- Deliver Nere’s Head
- Avenge Glut’s Circle
- Help Omeluum investigate the parasite
Siding With the Duergar
The Duergar might seem like a bad option, but you can get some good things out of this alliance in Baldur’s Gate 3. By siding with the Duergar, you can convince them to help you with one of the final fights of Chapter One. This is huge, but if you do it, you’ll face the Myconid Colony eventually, one of the game’s hardest fights. Still, if you want a challenge, this path is for you.
Ultimately, the choice is yours, but we recommend siding with the Myconic instead of the Duergar in Baldur’s Gate 3. Fighting the Myconic Colony is difficult as they can resurrect fallen allies on the spot, thanks to Glut. Plus, the Colony has many quests, traders, and rewards you can get by finishing quests. But, as we always say, this game is your playground, so follow whichever path you prefer.
