How to Get and Use the Resonance Stone in Baldur’s Gate 3

Half a mind

In a game that begins on the burning wreckage of a Mind Flayer ship with a parasite behind your eyeball, you expect things to go from bad to worse. Even dangerous trinkets can have their upsides, however, as is the case with the Resonance Stone. This powerful artifact grants its owner a useful physical buff but leaves them vulnerable to Psychic attacks. Depending on where you’re at in the campaign, that can be a death sentence. Still, helpful magic is helpful when it isn’t getting you killed. Here’s how to find and use the Resonance Stone in Baldur’s Gate 3.

To find this unusual artifact, you will need to go to the Underdark. This sprawling network of caves and ruins is the focus of Act Two. It’s also one of the game’s deadliest locations if you go in unprepared. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Enter the Underdark
  2. Travel to the Mind Flayer Colony
  3. Kill Mind Flayers and search their corpses
  4. Search the area surrounding the Necrotic Laboratory

The Resonance Stone is random loot in Baldur’s Gate 3, so there’s no guarantee when or where you’ll find it. This task is further complicated by the strength of the Mind Flayers themselves. They’re deadly opponents and don’t take kindly to your murdering and looting, so be mindful, and be ready to reload a save if things go sideways.

How to Use Resonance Stone in BG3

To use the Resonance Stone in Baldur’s Gate 3 you must simply equip it. This artifact creates an AoE buff, granting everyone within a 9m radius the Steeped in Bliss buff. For those unfamiliar with this unusual buff, Steeped in Bliss grants Advantage on Physical Checks (Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution) but Disadvantage on Mental Saving Throws (Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma).

It also makes affected characters vulnerable to Psychic Damage. Be wary of Steeped in Bliss when fighting powerful Psionic users or you’ll meet an untimely end at the hands of their magnified powers. Getting stunlocked and killed due to Steeped in Bliss is a real threat, so only wield the powers of the Resonance Stone if you’re confident you can handle the consequences. Upon activating the Resonance Stone, the buff/debuff it applies will remain active for one hour.
