Starfield offers players the option to explore over 1,000 planets and build their own base on each of them. You can set up an Outpost on every planet you visit and have a safe home to lay your head down for a break. You can build and use an Outpost on countless planets as long as you have enough resources and they are not inhabited. How you want to build your outposts is entirely up to your imagination and creativity. Let’s explain how to set up outposts in Starfield .

Outposts are essentially bases that you can modify to your liking in Starfield. Outposts can be comprised of many buildings, including storage, containers, power sources, mining equipment, and more. Remember that the planet you want to set your outpost on must be habitable and have resources. There should be plenty of space around the area you choose so that you can use it as you wish. Moreover, having lots of resources, such as gases, minerals, and liquids, will be very useful for you. You can use your scanner to analyze the area to select the best location.

Once you find a spot that is both habitable and resource-rich, do the following:

  1. Place an Outpost Beacon in the area you select and activate it. Make sure to put it down in a good spot.
  2. Aim at the spot where you want to place the Outpost Beacon and press R to place the beacon on PC, and X for Xbox.
  3. Now your Outpost is ready and you can modify it with storage, defense structures, furniture, displays, miscellaneous, and extractors.

You can enter build mode to place all the structures available. The rest depends entirely on what you want your base to look like. You can use your outpost purely for decoration or storage. You can assign crew to your outpost and let them take care of it when you are away. Moreover, you need to produce a power source for the uninterrupted functioning of your outpost. Therefore, put something like a solar panel to provide you with the necessary power.

If you wish to delete your Outpost, interact with your beacon and confirm it. Once done, the Outpost can not be restored and you’ll need to build a new one. If you are uncomfortable with the location of your Outpost, you can use this option.
