This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

Even though members of Swords of Justice joined the world of Pokemon Go a long time ago, any appearance of these Pokemon in raid gyms evokes a zealous desire to catch them in your collection. Virizion is no exception because, with powerful movesets of Grass and Fighting types and balanced characteristics, this Pokemon will become a faithful ally in many battles. As legends say, the swift movements of this Pokemon throw enemies into confusion, and there is some truth in these words. However, we are here only to tell you more about the Virizion moveset in Pokemon Go, as well as its weaknesses and best counters.

Virizion Weaknesses and Best Counters in Pokemon Go

As we said earlier, Virizion is a Grass and Fighting-type Pokemon, which means it is weak against Poison, Fire, Psychic, Ice, Fairy, and Flying-type attacks. All attacks of these types deal increased damage to it, but the Flying-type movesets are the most effective. Since both Grass and Fighting are weak against Flying Pokemon, Pokemon like the regular Staraptor or the legendary Moltres can easily overwhelm this Pokemon using simple Flying quick moves and dealing almost triple damage.

We fought this Pokemon in one of its previous appearances in raid gyms. We can say that 2 to 3 players with a bunch of Staraptor, Braviary, Scyther, and Honchkrow can easily defeat Virizion in a 5-star raid. And with the new Party Play feature and bonus to Charged Attacks, you can defeat it even faster. However, if your Pokédex includes rarer pocket monsters, you should assemble a team from the best counters and moveset to beat Virizion in Pokemon Go:

  • Staraptor: Gust, Brave Bird.
  • Moltres: Wing Attack, Sky Attack.
  • Rayquaza: Air Slash, Hurricane.
  • Honchkrow: Peck, Brave Bird.
  • Tornadus: Gust, Hurricane.
  • Yveltal: Gust, Hurricane.
  • Kartana: Air Slash, Aerial Ace.

It is also worth briefly mentioning that you should not use Pokemon that have Ground, Rock, Water, Grass, Electric, and Dark-type attacks against Virizion. It has resistance against these types, and Pokemon using these movesets are often weak against the attacks of this Swords of Justice member. So, take this into account when choosing counters if you are a beginner.

Also, before the battle with Virizion in the 5-star raid, you should know about his moveset. Firstly, it will help you know what abilities you will get when you catch this Pokemon. Secondly, this will give newbies a hint as to who not to send into battle against this legendary pocket monster.

Fast Moves

  • Double Kick (Fighting type)
  • Quick Attack (Normal type)
  • Zen Headbutt (Psychic type)

Charged Moves

  • Close Combat (Fighting type)
  • Leaf Blade (Grass type)
  • Stone Edge (Rock type)
  • Sacred Sword (Fighting type)

Perhaps this is all you need to know about Virizion Pokemon Go and how to defeat it. Finally, only add from our experience that you can spend a few TMs to create a Virizion with Double Kick and Sacred Sword moves. It is one of the best combinations, but you can challenge this opinion by choosing something of your own. Well, before we go into battle, let’s summarize the knowledge about Virizion:

  • Virizion is a Grass and Fighting Pokemon.
  • It is weak against Poison, Fire, Psychic, Ice, Fairy, and Flying-type attacks.
  • It is resistant to Ground, Rock, Water, Grass, Electric, and Dark-type attacks.
  • The best moveset for this Pokemon is Double Kick and Sacred Sword.
