Nelly is focusing on the bigger picture despite backlash over his billed performance at President Donald Trump‘s inauguration. The performer is defending his decision claiming it has no political undertone. He added that accepting to perform at the inauguration shows respect for the Oval Office. Nelly argued his point during an interview with Willie D, where he educated sore critics and his fans.
The rapper noted he did not have to agree with Trump’s political ideologies before performing for him. The new dad reminded the public that the politician won the election and has upgraded from being a candidate. According to TMZ, Nelly reiterated that he respects the office regardless of who occupies it, hence his freedom to perform. He said:
“I’m not doing this for money. I’m doing this because it’s an honor. That’s what this is about.”
Nelly’s comment reached X, leading to numerous discussions and diverse opinions. One user insisted Nelly did it for the cash, noting that raising babies in this era is not cheap. A commenter defended Nelly, claiming he does not “need to defend himself to anyone.” Another user called Nelly’s decision an attempt at gaining publicity, declaring that his “career was basically over.” The dominant theme in the comments is basically everyone declaring that he took the gig because of the pay.
President Donald Trump’s Inauguration To Hold in the United States Capitol Rotunda
Everything about the politician’s journey to the white house has taken a full circle route, including his inauguration. Following a not-so-pleasant weather forecast for the big day, Trump announced a familiar spot as the inauguration venue. Like his predecessor, Ronald Reagen, we shared that the incoming President chose the Capitol Rotunda for the significant event.
The president-elect’s chosen venue coincidentally came under attack on January 6th, 2021, weeks after he lost his re-election bid. The incident recorded about 2,000 people breaking into Capitol Hill and desecrating the interior of the government building. Law enforcement arrested over 1,500 intruders after the incident, which left Americans in a state of horror.
Trump explained that he chose the venue to protect attendees from unfavorable weather conditions. Some commenters have found a humorous side to the statement, tagging it as an attempt to prevent a hairline mishap. Other online spectators questioned his move, mainly because he campaigned under harsher conditions. The comments reminded the politician of his campaign during the summer that landed multiple attendees in the hospital.
Inside Donald Trump’s Second Inauguration as America’s 47th President
Trump will take the oath of office administered by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts in the Capitol Rotunda. The indoor location reportedly holds about 600 people, including the families of Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance. TMZ confirmed that Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh will administer the oath of office to the vice president.
Due to the indoor nature of the event, the over 200k expected attendees will converge inside Capital One Arena. The crowd, a mix of supporters and protesters, will have to watch the proceedings on a big screen. Outgoing president Joe Biden, former presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush will attend the program. Jill Biden and former First Ladies Hillary Clinton and Laura Bush will grace special seats at the inauguration.
Music act Carrie Underwood will belt out her vocals at the Capitol Rotunda on Monday, January 20, 2025. Performers Rascal Flatts and Jason Aldean will entertain guests at the inaugural ball later today. Other musicians who have lent their sonorous voices to the ceremony include Kid Rock and Billy Ray Cyrus. The boy band Village People also performed at the victory rally held last night in honor of his win.
Congratulations to the 47th President of the United States of America, Donald Trump.
