This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

Fighting Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is one of the reasons that many fans were so hyped for the game. Venom is one of the main antagonists in the Spider-Man comics, movies, and video games, and Spider-Man 2 brings it home by showcasing a very well-established version of the character. Now, while this Symbiote is a friendly mate in Tom Hardy’s movies, the Insomniac Games variant is not so nice. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 features Venom as a boss in many main story missions, and the final stage is also carried by the black goo. This boss fight is pretty hard to deal with, as Venom is in his most powerful state. So here’s a guide on how to defeat the Venom boss fight in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

You’ll face Venom in 4 stages. In the first stage, Peter goes alone to lure the Symbiote out of his nest. Here, Harry and Venom are completely fused together; thus, Venom talks about how Harry feels about Peter Parker. All the pain Harry has suffered is spoken in the first stages, and Peter tries to defend Harry by making him remember who he is, which doesn’t work.

  • Three Punches.
  • Towering Hits.
  • Charge Attacks (Unblockable).
  • Ground Attacks (Unblockable).

The first stage of this fight is quite simple to deal with. Venom attacks you with heavy towering hits, charge attacks, and three slashes that you can dodge and parry. So, let’s deal with his attacks one by one. First, he does the towering hits. This move can be parried or dodged, but you must know that the best you can do is to dodge the first two and then parry the third one for the best result. You can also parry the third one as well and then attack Venom, but the after-parry attacks deal more damage and will boost your abilities and gadgets to refill.

Then, we’ve got the three-punch attacks. These attacks are done with the same rhythm as the towering hits. You need to dodge the first two and parry the third one to deal the maximum damage. If you parry the first two attacks, however, Venom still gets you with the second and third hits. In the end, Venom’s charge attacks can not be blocked, so the best you can do is to dodge them and then strike.

One last important thing to note about the Venom final boss fight in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is that sometimes he fills the whole ground with Symbiotes! In that case, all you can do is jump and press R2 + L2 to reach another platform to continue the fight.

  • Same attacks as stage 1.
  • Smaller Symbiote enemies.
  • Venom has a shield at this stage.

After you’ve probably been killed many times by Venom, as I did, it’s time for the second stage of the Venom boss fight in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. In the second phase, Venom attacks you the same way he did before. However, he summons smaller Symbiote targets this time, which are very annoying to deal with. What’s worse is that Venom has a shield at this stage.

So, you need to deal with two things in this stage: Symbiotes and Venom’s shield. Once you take down the boss’ shield, the smaller Symbiotes vanish. But to take down his shield, you must use your L1 + Anti-Venom attacks, which can be filled by hitting those smaller targets. Here’s how to do it:

  1. First, try to parry smaller enemies and hit them.
  2. Watch out for Venom striking while you’re refilling your suit abilities.
  3. Once your abilities are filled, try hitting Venom with them.
  4. After you destroy Venom’s shield, attack him with the same pattern as phase 1 of this boss fight in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Remember that Venom might reuse his shield. Thus, you must redo all these steps to drain his shield and health bar until the fight is over.

  • Air projectiles.
  • Same attacks as the first stage (while grounded).

After you defeat Venom in two times back-to-back fights, somehow, you get to be the loser of this battle. Venom takes Peter and knocks him out, while this time, Miles starts attacking this villain Symbiote. In this phase, Venom goes up in the air, using wings to attack you while flying. These attacks are in the shape of throwing projectiles and something that looks like a big boulder.

During this fight, the ground will often be covered with goo, so you’ll have to go up and stay above it until it’s cleared. At the beginning of the fight, Venom attacks you with projectiles. Here’s how you can deal with it:

  1. Dodge the spike projectiles by pressing the Circle button.
  2. After two dodges, Venom throws a boulder at you, which you can grab by holding R1 + L1 and throwing it back at him.
  3. After you hit Venom with the rock, press Triangle to reach the monster and hit him.

Redo the drill until you drain half of Venom’s HP. The next phase of the Venom boss fight is again like the first stage in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. That means you only have to dodge Venom’s heavy attacks and parry the third strike. Use gadgets to stun Venom while he tries to attack and drain his health bar until he jumps up in the air again.

The second time that Venom goes up, he throws a random number of two or three projectiles at you. But again, he throws a boulder in the end, which you can throw back to stun and attack him. He’ll be grounded again in the end, and after you defeat him, the final stage of Venom’s final boss fight in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which is the easiest, begins.
