Justin Bieber made the crowd go wild during a charity ice hockey event on Sunday, February 23. The tournament called Skate For LA Strong featured several celebrities and former NHL players. These stars joined forces with the NHL to raise money for victims of the recent Los Angeles wildfires. The star-studded list included former professional ice hockey player Jeremy Roenick, who got into a fake fight with Bieber.

Despite being in his fifties, the NHL star happily played along with Bieber to stir up the crowd. The duo’s hilarious fight featured cartoon-style moves, with the Baby hitmaker throwing light punches at Roenick. Bieber seemed to have the upper hand, pushing the former athlete down to the knees while playfully attacking him.

They went at it for a while before their teammates stepped in, and they parted ways with cheeky smiles. However, the fun didn’t end there, as Bieber pumped up the crowd while skating off to the bench. The video shared by the LA Kings on X received positive reactions from fans. Many applauded Bieber for his comedic performance, with someone writing, “Making it fun for the crowd !!! Love JB.”

Another echoed similar sentiments, noting that “the fake fights were funny.” A third teased Bieber and Roenick, claiming their “two-year-old girl could put on a better show.” A fourth labeled the singer Canada’s new hockey ambassador, while an X user applauded Bieber’s skating skills. The love continued with someone claiming they would let the singer punch them for “that kind of attention.”

The Los Angeles Kings, in partnership with the NHL and several celebrities, hosted the charity tournament for wildfire victims. The games aimed to raise awareness and donations while supporting the ongoing fire recovery efforts. Before the February 23 event, showrunners announced the full lineup of players, coaches, and musical performers.

The exhibition hockey game featured four teams playing in a single elimination format. Each team’s roster included a mix of celebrities, NHL Alumni, hockey dignitaries, and local first responders from LAFD, LAcoFD, and LAPD. Bieber headlined the participants alongside Steve Carell and NHL superstars like Roenick, Rob Blake, Cammi Granato, and more.

Other icons joined the four teams as honorary coaches, including Danny DeVito, Snoop Dogg, Will Ferrell, and Al Michaels. As for musical performers, the list featured Producer and DJ Kaskade and award-winning, multi-platinum singer/songwriter Jordan Davis. Critically acclaimed, multi-platinum songstress Lauren Spencer-Smith also graced the list per The Los Angeles Kings.

Bieber’s participation in the charity event was announced days before he sparked mixed reactions for snapping at the paparazzi. We reported the incident occurred after he and his wife, Hailey Bieber, grabbed breakfast at the Beverly Glen Deli. On their way to their car, a group of photographers spotted them and began taking pictures.

One photographer yelled, “Thank you, JB, bro,” which stopped the singer in his tracks. Bieber asked why the man was thanking him, especially since he did not consent to have his pictures taken. The duo had a back-and-forth exchange that ended with the entertainer stressing, “Just take your pictures and let me do my thing, okay?” However, some believed Bieber shouldn’t have snapped at the man, while others supported his stance.
