The Duskbloods Being a Nintendo Switch 2 Exclusive Was the Most Surprising Reveal of the Showcase

Quite the curve ball, huh?

  • Could The Duskbloods Come to Other Platforms?

No one knew what to expect with the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct other than a few first-party reveals, Nintendo Switch games enhanced for the new consoles, and the platform’s specs. What we really weren’t expecting was FromSoftware launching The Duskbloods, which is, wait for it, an exclusive title for the Nintendo Switch 2. Yes. You read that right. This PvPvE title will be available only on Nintendo’s upcoming console, so if you want to play as any of the “Bloodsworn” (not to be confused with Bloodborne, sorry), you better start saving some cash.

The Duskbloods Is a PvPvE Multiplayer Game Coming Exclusively to Nintendo Switch 2

In case you missed the news or are still having a hard time processing the reveal, The Duskbloods will only arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2. Normally, a platform exclusive shouldn’t be big enough to cause ripples across the gaming ocean. So, why are we so surprised about this one?

For starters, it is rare to see anything from FromSoftware on a Nintendo platform. Yes, it has Dark Souls, but so do the other consoles. So, having this new game coming as an exclusive is wild, to say the least. Furthermore, it isn’t just any game. It is a multiplayer title focusing on PvPvE elements with huge Bloodborne x Elden Ring vibes. More of the former, though, which just seems like pouring salt into the wound, but that’s a rant for another occasion.

In any case, The Duskbloods seems to be far away from reaching the digital shelves. So far, we only know it will launch sometime in 2026. The developers have yet to announce a date. What is certain, however, is its exclusivity. Given how big FromSoftware is and how amazing its recent games have been, many might already have the perfect excuse to buy the Nintendo Switch 2 now. Yet, we’ll have to watch proper gameplay footage to make a final decision.

This is another thing that is too early to talk about, but some speculating doesn’t hurt. When the game eventually launches, it will be tied to Nintendo’s new platform. However, Nintendo has received many games in the past that found their way into the multi-platform landscape. Let’s take Resident Evil 4, for example. Initially, it launched on the GameCube, but now you can play it on different platforms. Yet, we don’t have to go that far. Look at Monster Hunter Rise. Players can now hunt the former Nintendo Switch-exclusive monsters on almost every other platform, which is great. With that in mind, we’re hopeful to see The Duskbloods find its way outside of the Nintendo Switch 2. Yet, if you want to play it at launch, you should consider getting the console first.

Still, The Duskbloods isn’t the only intriguing title coming to Nintendo’s new platform. Elden Ring is also coming sometime in 2025, and other big games like Cyberpunk 2077 will find their way to the Switch 2. So, even if The Duskbloods isn’t your cup of souls-like tea (or whatever genre it may end up being), there are other excellent games coming in the next few months.
