New York Influencer’s Frugal Shower Routine Takes Savings to a Gross Level, ‘Reusing Floss Is Insane’

Maybe it’s time to move to a cheaper area

Groceries and household products are getting more expensive by the day. Now, people are going above and beyond to as frugal as possible. Saving money, no matter how small, is how many people are getting by just to pay bills and survive. One New York influencer took this to the extreme, even calling himself the ‘under consumption final boss.’ However, it has me questioning whether or not his tactics are worth doing. And maybe a cold bath.

No it’s not rage bait. Yes I’m happy living this way. No I’m not getting new towels haha

Influencer ‘Bradley On A Budget’—@baddie.brad on TikTok—shared his “Frugal Shower Routine” in a video on TikTok. Bradley says he likes to “avoid overconsumption” in an effort to save money. After meal-prepping chicken for later, he’s off to the showers. But first, he has to remove trash bags out of the tub, which are full of cans from dumpster diving. Since Bradley’s apartment is small, the shower is where they’re stored.

When he cleans his shower out, he shows off one of the towels, which is old, ragged, and stapled together. Another nearby is Bradley’s “emotional support towel,” as he calls it. There’s a bag full of soap, given to him by family members that frequently travel and take from hotels. When he does shower, it’s for no more than the length of two songs, so around 7 to 8 minutes, according to Bradley.

That all sounds bearable, but peppered throughout the video are Bradley’s other tactics. For example, when he showers, he always washes dishes. (I think I lost my lunch.) While attending his teeth, he reveals a used piece of floss, which he then uses. Doesn’t that defeat the purpose, though?

“I can understand your need to save money, but the cleanliness and sanitary conditions are not healthy,” said a concerned commenter. Another person said, “If I found out the person I was dating was reusing floss, showering once a week and too frugal to replace a towel I wouldn’t date them respectfully.”

At the end of the day, it’s his choice to live how he pleases but this is taking a little too far. It’s okay to budget but not at the cost of your own health and sanity. Even Mr. Krabs would understand that. If you go to these great lengths to save money, perhaps moving to a cheaper area would be the better option.
