A rare occurrence took place in Washington, DC, as a White woman who accused an anti-Trump protester of stealing her purse ended up being the one on her way to jail. A viral video posted on TikTok captured the entire exchange as a woman approached an anti-Trump protester holding an “[Expletive]Trump” flag on a sidewalk. The two engaged in a long debate, which ended with the protester calling the woman “a racist.”
As though triggered by the name-calling, the woman slapped the protester’s phone out of his hand. “[Expletive] off me,” the protester commanded, shoving the woman to the ground. “Somebody pick up their racist auntie,” the protester jested, walking away. Soon, onlookers who had been supporting the woman tried to intervene. The protester got into his car, and not long after, the woman followed to accuse him of stealing her purse. “You have my pocketbook,” she said, banging on his window.
An officer approached the protester’s vehicle, and the protester narrated the incident, providing the officer with video evidence of what had transpired. After watching the clip, the police officer informed the protester that the woman would be arrested for “assault and battery.” The protester noted the advantage of having his bodycam telling his viewers, “The tape don’t lie!”
After a while, an ambulance pulled up to the scene, and the protester alleged that the woman had faked a medical emergency upon hearing she was going to jail. The video quickly sparked a flurry of comments online. Many were excited by the karma that had caught up with the woman. “So she came over there, put her hands on his phone, and she got pushed. Now everyone wants to come to her rescue because they see a white woman on the ground and a black man standing,” a user wrote.
Another gloated, “This video made my whole damn day. She tried her best to get you murdered by the police and ended up in jail for it. It rarely works out that way. So satisfying.” One TikToker added, “MAGA is a mental illness.” While another echoed, “They are so bold to walk up to random people without being scared of the consequences.”
Others focused on her false accusation. “Accusations about stealing her purse are the ultimate classic racism,” one wrote.
