President Donald Trump has ignited fresh controversy at the Kennedy Center, posting provocative messages online just hours after the death of JFK’s granddaughter, Tatiana Schlossberg. As the nation mourned her passing, Trump’s social media posts reignited tensions with the Kennedy family, highlighting his recent renaming of the iconic venue.
Trump Stirs Controversy Amid Tragedy
Despite Tatiana Schlossberg dying at 35 after battling leukemia, Trump took to Truth Social to repost MAGA supporters mocking the Kennedy family. One post read:
“The Kennedy Family have LONG neglected the Kennedy Center, btw. They don’t raise money for it. They never show up. And the only Kennedy who has been there recently is a member of Trump’s cabinet.”
Another stated:
“The Trumps have always been supporters of the arts. The Kennedys are supporters of the Kennedys.”
The comments were brimming with claims that the center had been mismanaged before the Trump administration’s involvement. One user noted:
“I missed them saying… how much they have helped with the upkeep, repairs, and funding over the years.” “He saved it, he deserves it,” says another user.
The Kennedy family has not responded to Trump’s attacks, focusing instead on honoring Tatiana. Her cousin Maria Shriver expressed heartfelt grief:
“I return to this space today to pay tribute to my sweet, beloved Tatiana, who left this earth today. I return to this space to pay tribute and honor her loving and supportive family, who came together and did everything they possibly could do to help her.” She added, “I return to this space heartbroken because Tatiana loved life. She loved her life, and she fought like hell to try to save it.”

Earlier this month, Trump’s handpicked board approved renaming the John F. Kennedy Center to the Trump-Kennedy Center. The move has sparked cancellations from prominent performers, including jazz group The Cookers, Doug Varone and Dancers, folksinger Kristy Lee, and jazz artist Chuck Redd.
The center, created after President Kennedy’s 1963 assassination, was designed to honor his legacy. Trump’s rebranding has amplified criticism that the name change disregards tradition and offended both artists and loyal patrons. The ongoing feud between Trump and the Kennedy family continues to make headlines, now amplified by the tragic timing of Tatiana Schlossberg’s demise.
