New York Woman Loses It After Supermarket Lost Her Bag Containing $100 Worth of Items: ‘They Stole It and Gave It to Someone They Know’

She had every right to be upset

When you’re asked to check your bag before entering a store, you naturally assume it will be safe until you’re ready to leave. That’s what a New York woman believed when she checked a bag containing items worth more than $100 before entering a supermarket. However, when she exited the store, she was shocked to learn that her bag was gone.

That discovery sent her into a rage. Two supermarket employees were standing outside, and she appeared to believe they were responsible for handling the checked bags. She began filming them, angrily accusing them of losing her property. “These useless idiots lost my bag,” she said in the video.

As she recorded, she made sure to capture the employees’ faces. Neither appeared willing to look at her or the camera. The confrontation escalated further when the woman walked directly up to a security guard, standing inches from him, while repeatedly calling him “useless.”

In the New York woman’s video, she also warned others not to shop at the supermarket, saying she didn’t want the same thing to happen to them. In a follow-up video, she claimed that the two employees had laughed at her, though that moment wasn’t captured in the original recording. She also revealed that one of the employees later messaged her, pleading for her to take the video down.

“We found your bag when you left, but we didn’t have no contact to reach out to you. I’m sorry please DELETE THE VIDEO YOU POSTED PLEASE I’M SORRY AGAIN I DON’T WANT LOSE MY JOB PLEASE,” the message read in part.

She refused to remove the video. The timing of the discovery, finding her bag shortly after she left, led many viewers to suspect the employees may have intended to steal it.

In a third video, the woman claimed the employees initially tried to hand her the wrong bag when she exited the supermarket, which is when she began yelling at them. After receiving the message from the employee, she called the store and asked to speak with the assistant manager. According to her, the bag then “magically” appeared, with staff claiming that the customer who had supposedly taken it returned later.

She said she didn’t believe that explanation. In her view, it didn’t make sense that someone in the Bronx would voluntarily return a bag filled with more than $100 worth of items. She also noted that others had shared similar experiences at the same supermarket.

Ultimately, what mattered most was that she did get her belongings back in the end, even if she remained unconvinced by how the situation was handled.

People Reacting to the New York Woman Losing Her Bag

After the New York woman’s video began circulating, many people became convinced that the store had tried to steal her bag. “They stole it and gave it to someone they know,” one person claimed. Another commenter questioned the explanation entirely, writing, “And they magically found the bag? Sounds like they took it but didn’t expect that video to blow up.”

Others echoed that sentiment. “Sooo they stole your bag and once they realized the power of social media they went to give it back,” another person said. Comments like these reinforced the woman’s belief that the situation wasn’t an accident.

Some viewers also shared what they would have done if they were in her position. “I would’ve got $100 worth of groceries for free. Now we even,” one TikTok user wrote.

The reactions showed just how little trust many people had in the store’s explanation once the video went viral.

Several people urged the New York customer to contact the police over the incident. “Call the police and hold them accountable,” one person advised. Another echoed that sentiment, writing, “And they look so unbothered. That’s crazy. Girl, I hope you called the cops.”

Others focused on the employees’ demeanor. “They are very unbothered. I would file a complaint with the police with my receipt. The store has insurance to pay. Since the store is in the hood, they don’t think people know how to advocate for themselves,” one commenter wrote.

Some people went a step further, arguing that shoppers should stop checking their bags altogether. “You can refuse to leave your bags. I always tell no for over 20 years, keep walking, there is no law stating you have to leave property at the door. STOP SHOPPING AT THESE PLACES GUYS‼” another person commented.

Many agreed on one thing. If a store requires customers to hand over their belongings, it should also be responsible for keeping them safe.
