Texas Man Questions What He Just Saw After One-Wheeled Ride Flies Past Other Cars on Highway: ‘One Pothole and It’s a Wrap’

Can he juggle while riding?

There has been no shortage of absurd vehicles conceptualized by daring inventors, but many of them didn’t exactly materialize due to safety reasons. Still, one of them might have gotten through the cracks, because there’s now a motor-powered one-wheeled vehicle zooming past cars on Texas highways, and people are bewildered.

The sighting reportedly happened around February 18 in Houston, Texas, though earlier testimonies and sightings on Katy Highway were also available. In the video, you can see Instagram user mr.gotdamnit_, stunned at the sight of the one-wheeled vehicle, also known as an electric-powered unicycle, supposedly from the P6 brand or lineup.

The Instagram user couldn’t help but question what exactly is going on, “Look at this [expletive], he going to jail,” assumes the Instagram user, presumably under the impression that such a vehicle is prohibited on the highway. That particular highway in Houston, for example, could easily have a 60-70 MPH speed limit, and seeing as the unicycle is zipping past other vehicles, it’s safe to say he could be close to maxing out the P6 unicycle’s 93 MPH max speed.

The Instagram user even called out the rider, “Hey what the [expletive] is you doing?” and asked whether he had a license plate, which he didn’t seem to have. But at least it has turn signals on it. It’s unclear whether the Houston police were chasing the rider, although it appears he quickly exited the freeway just before a police patrol arrived.

The Daredevil Confounded People Online

Another driver from Texas who also sighted the powered unicycle earlier also couldn’t help but voice out a mix of concern and shock, “You have to be legitimately [expletive] to ride a powered unicycle on Katy freeway.” Indeed, other viewers and some commenters have pointed out just how dangerous unicycles are for those driving on highways, “One pothole and it’s a wrap,” says a commenter.

“I got rid of my last bike after almost busting my nuts on it because of a pothole so he can definitely have this 😭.” Others were shocked at the speed of the powered unicycle, which many thought was just a toy or hobby vehicle upon first seeing it, “Damn! Them things go that fast.” An alleged P6 owner also chimed in on the matter, “That P6 ain’t no joke 93mph can’t wait til mine come.”

Of course, despite the unicycle rider’s helmet, many thought it was just for vanity at that point. Regular motorcycles are the most dangerous vehicles at the moment, based on death statistics, so you can imagine how much more dangerous they would be if you take one wheel off. At the time of writing, the legality of electric unicycles on Texas highways appears to be a grey area as they’re new vehicles, though a few accidents might change that.
