Countless fast food workers have been fired for various violations, but one former Whataburger worker’s termination in South Carolina has sparked a backlash against the brand. Apparently, the Whataburger worker was merely doing Whataburger food reviews– positive ones, even, but the branch still opted to fire him. The branch’s decision has led to review bombing.
TikTok user Byron Junior is the former Whataburger employee who got fired just a few days ago. The clip above shows Byron eating food from a Whataburger branch in Lexington, South Carolina, and giving it a positive review while also incorporating religious Christian praises in his food reviews, such as “Jesus loves you.” Byron can also be seen getting interrupted by a couple of Whataburger managers, where he even had to justify that he “clocked out.”
Sadly, it appears the technicality didn’t matter for management, as Byron was reportedly terminated according to his subsequent posts. Byron explained that, “I don’t want to bash Whataburger… I do believe it’s injustice,” regarding his termination. He also claimed that before getting fired, his co-workers were already bullying him and even threatening to harm him.
Because of his testimony, his viewers grew concerned and even called Whataburger authorities to inform them of the matter. Whataburger has allegedly acknowledged the calls regarding the incident, though it appears the food chain hasn’t made a statement at the time of writing just yet.
People Online are Review Bombing the Whataburger Branch
With that said, Byron’s viewers are apparently not content with seeking justice for him, as they now also want further retaliatory sanctions against Whataburger. In the particular Whataburger branch’s Yelp page, people from different states are dishing out negative reviews, citing Byron’s termination and workplace bullying.
“Poor judgment firing that young boy, he could have elevated the advertisement how Staples did to the girl who brought clout to them. Research the statistics on that one and thank me later. Instead you fired him, and gave other companies opportunities to APPRECIATE his brain, and his creative freedom xoxo,” defends one review.
Another reviewer from California complained about the other workers, “Can’t believe Byron was fired but not the employees harassing him during his lunch break i hope you fire and rehire him if they treat their employee this way can just imagine the customers!” It’s worth noting that the branch is in Lexington, South Carolina. At the moment, it appears heads are still running hot as negative reviews are still being served to Whataburger.
