A lot of veterans have been expressing recently how they are against the war in Iran. Unfortunately, their opinion is often met with considerable backlash. Now, a US Marine has faced more than just backlash during a Senate hearing in Washington, DC. His hand was broken by several police officers and also Senator Tim Sheehy from Montana.
The heroic US Marine was against the war in Iran, and the fact that he spoke against it led to his getting kicked out. A video that is going viral right now showed the brutality he was met with. He was being forcibly removed from the room by officers while he yelled, “No one wants to fight for Israel.” It looked like his hand was placed in the small space between the door and the wall. Despite someone from the audience saying, “His hand,” the officers still tried to kick him out.
To make matters worse, Sheehy got involved and started trying to remove the marine as well. An officer then told him to let go of his hand and then proceeded to cover his face, which was quite unnecessary. This force used by the officers and the senator broke the Marine’s hand. A man from the crowd was left in disbelief as he said, “The senator broke his hand. A senate US senator just broke the hand of a Marine.” Despite these protests, the group continued to try to carry the Marine out of the room. No one checked his hand or made sure he was okay.
Finally, they let go of his leg and allowed him to stand up, since they were carrying him. While the video ended there, what it showed was outrageous. No one deserves to be attacked like this just for opposing war. It was later confirmed in another video that the Marine had his hand broken by the officers. As they were leading him away after arresting him, he said, “Free Palestine.” One of the crowd members who was following him commented that the group that kicked him out had broken his arm.
All the videos coming out from that Senate hearing in Washington DC are horrifying, especially since the sound of the Marine’s hand snapping was clear. A third video showed how he also said at first, “Israel is the reason for this war. Americans don’t want to fight this war for Israel.” That was when they started kicking him out. They broke his arm for this.
Washington DC Reacts To the Marine Incident
People were absolutely outraged after they saw what happened to the US Marine in Washington DC. One person wrote in disbelief, “They broke his arm.” Another person said, “It actually looks like the broke his forearm right in half. Ouch. Kind of wild how everyone just has nonissue manhandling a veteran over speech.” Others couldn’t believe how Sheehy, who is a Senator, handled a Marine. “They have capital police. Why in the [expletive] is a sitting senator putting his hands on a citizen or forcefully removing anyone? Jesus Christ. What the [expletive] is going on anymore?” one person asked. Someone else said, “I hope this gets plastered all over Montana. Montana loves the Marines and hates people who don’t.”
More people expressed their outrage as one person came after Republicans and said, “Republicans don’t care about soldiers or veterans.” Another person wrote, “I hope that marine sues all 5 of those with hands on him.” This made someone else reply, “If the lives of Americans are worth sacrificing for Israel, a marine’s hand is nothing.”
One Redditor also commented, “Wow, so now Republicans are just personally attacking US citizens and our Armed Service Member, in uniform no less, for speaking out against Israel.” This is definitely an unfortunate event.
