Although the world’s attention is currently captured by the war happening between the U.S. and Iran, ICE agents have not stopped going around Minneapolis, Minnesota, and detaining people. Recently, a 50-year-old ailing veteran was detained by about 20 ICE agents. In a video uploaded on Reddit, you could see the detainment happening. The video itself was a collection of several clips.
The first one was filmed by a Minnesota woman who confronted the ICE agents. She asked why they were acting so scared when they were the ones going around peaceful neighborhoods with their guns drawn and arresting people. The ICE agents could meanwhile be seen handcuffing a man in the distance. The Minnesota woman then shouted that the ICE agents knew they were wrong, which was why they were covering their faces.
In the second clip, it was a man who recorded the video, though at this point the ICE agents had already entered their vehicles and taken their target. The man was much angrier than the Minnesota woman, cursing and insulting them and calling the ICE agents traitors to America. The man then shouted that he could not believe they had sent a group of ICE agents to detain an old lady, an Army veteran.
Reddit users in r/minneapolis were angry about what they saw happening in Minnesota. Many criticized the ICE agents for what they described as cowardice, detaining residents as a group while holding weapons. “They are bad people,” one user said.
Others condemned the agents for what they believed were other lawbreaking habits. One user pointed out how the cars the ICE agents were driving in this Minnesota incident did not have proper license plates. “Multiple cars with expired tags (green 2025 stickers). Just general lawlessness and wasted resources for absolutely no public benefit,” one commenter wrote.
Another said, “They are straight up pulling old license plates from antique stores or junkyards. It’s not uncommon to look up a license plate off one of their shiny new vehicles on one of those vehicle registration databases and find out it belongs to a 2001 Honda or something like that.”
Some users also expressed worry about what was going on with ICE agents in Minnesota. After the war that Trump started against Iran, many incidents like this were overshadowed by the news coming from the Middle East. “ICE is still out in the streets, but a lot of patrollers and observers aren’t. I know it’s scary and exhausting, but we have to keep pushing back,” one Redditor said.
