Unless you’ve been steering clear of social media and the internet in general, you might have already heard about the recent virality of the McDonald’s CEO. He wasn’t in the news because of a business decision or some corporate drama. In fact, this Illinois CEO went viral after the internet made fun of him during his attempt to promote the Big Arch burger. Other fast food CEOs also joined in poking fun at him, but recently, a TikToker had the idea to create a fun jingle using the video.
The jingle lasted 30 seconds and featured heavy beats. The lyrics themselves were just the words spoken by the Illinois CEO, with him mainly repeating how he would eat the product. This was one of the major things that the internet targeted in the video. Instead of calling the Big Arch a burger, a food, or a meal, the man called it a “product.” Many critics claimed this made it seem like the McDonald’s CEO didn’t even consider the item in his hand as something worth being called food.
The jingle also had a chorus where the Illinois CEO repeatedly said the word “product” over and over again. TikTok users found the video extremely entertaining, and it quickly amassed over 2.6 million views and 200,000 likes.
Many commenters also used the chance to make fun of the Illinois CEO further. “Mmmmm, Product,” one user wrote while also attaching an image of the McDonald’s CEO biting into the burger. Another said, “Video no. 11 I’ve liked today on TikTok of the McDonald’s CEO getting mocked.”
So far, the Illinois CEO has yet to release an official response to this viral yet rather humiliating moment. However, the company is indeed aware of what is going on online, as McDonald’s pushed promotional content about the burger, encouraging people to “take a bite of our new product.”
Some small sentiments shared by a handful of users also suggested that the whole Big Arch video drama didn’t only cause a negative impact on the company. Some users even went as far as to say that they might be interested in buying a burger called “Product.”“Listen, if McDonald’s releases a burger called ‘The Product,’ I’ll buy it,” one commenter said.
Others wondered whether McDonald’s and the Illinois CEO would react if the jingle gained even more attention, fueling the mockery further. “McDonald’s should try to buy this to save this PR nightmare,” one user wrote.
