It costs literally nothing to be kind. Unfortunately, it feels like fewer and fewer people understand that you can extend kindness anywhere you go. An Illinois couple were clearly looking to ruin someone’s day when they decided to take up a problem with an elderly woman in a Walmart parking lot. Luckily, because kindness exists, a woman quickly came to her rescue to comfort her and get her the help she needed.
Melissa (@melissajackson0713) responded quickly when she saw a couple harassing an elderly woman in her vehicle at a Richton Park, Illinois Walmart. She jumped into action after spotting a man and woman apparently trying to climb into the grandmother’s vehicle after her. You can see the woman put her hands on the lady inside her vehicle. When the woman tried to yank the elderly lady out of her car, her husband pulls her away and they retreat into the store. Melissa and another woman made their way over to the elderly woman’s vehicle to see what was going on.
When Melissa approaches the elderly woman’s vehicle, she’s already overwhelmed and sobbing loudly. It’s so upsetting to see that two people could treat a woman so badly. Melissa discovers they were harassing the woman. They accused her of hitting the husband when she was driving through the parking lot. Melissa and the lady with her announce to the lady that they recorded the entire interaction from their vehicle.
They ask her if she’s okay and gently tell her that they’re going to get her help while she cries to herself. Then, Melissa calls the police for her. While she’s telling the police that the woman attacked the elderly woman inside her vehicle, she continues to cry and gather herself. They extend so much kindness by staying with her and telling the police exactly what happened as calmly as possible.
One commenter stated what we’re all thinking watching the video: “Aww that just hurt my feelings REAL BAD.” Luckily, justice was served. In an update video, Melissa shows that the woman was arrested by police. You can see them putting her in the back of a squad car. It appears that Melissa’s account of the events ended up helping the elderly woman in the end. One commenter mentioned, “I immediately thought about my mom when I saw the 1st video. Thank you for standing up for her!”
