After the big presidential election, voters wait with patience to see what their choices will do for them and those around them. Sometimes, the results are well worth it. Sometimes, the results are disappointing. A Florida interviewer approached voters of President Trump at a gas station to get their opinions on the president. This all comes after gas prices rose significantly due to the Iranian War. What they had to say probably caught some of us off guard.
@MSNow shared a TikTok video of an interviewer, Alex Tabet, speaking with Trump voters at a Florida gas station. He noticed that many of his voters are now “expressing frustration” over gas prices (and in good reason). Across the U.S., these prices have risen on top of already-rising prices for groceries, electricity, rent, and other needs. Everybody is feeling it. Alex asks one voter if he regrets his vote. The voter proclaims, “Well, between him and her, I thought he was the better choice. But honestly, I miss my Uncle Joe.”
Alex points out that gas prices in this specific area of Florida rose by about $0.60 per gallon, leaving less in people’s pockets. The interviewee expresses disappointment that Trump didn’t keep his campaign promises. He tells Alex that Trump was “gonna put it under $3” and make gas cheaper for everybody. Instead, the man tells Alex that he’s charging Americans more for gas now, years later, after “stealing from Venezuela.”
Alex speaks with another Trump voter who shares his stance on rising gas prices. He says if he had a chance to speak with Trump himself, “I’d just encourage him to finish up this war and get us back to a safe world.” Another Trump voter adds to this that the war is “unfortunate” and he hopes it will soon end. It’s clear to Alex and everybody else that the economy is not where it should be, and it’s affecting virtually everyone. They say what all of us are thinking: There remains hope that this is only temporary.
One commenter sarcastically added, “Wish someone could have predicted all of this.” A second commenter stated, “Wait till they figure out food prices are also going up because you need fuel to transport food.” And another commenter added to this, “Everything will go up. There will be fuel surcharges added to everything just like during the Iraq War in the 2000s.” Time will tell, and we hope it will be generous.
