Donald Trump has been going around accusing his political opponents of performing election fraud, with it eventually resulting in Trump supporters attacking the White House. However, in recent times there have been suspicions of Trump being the one doing such a thing. During an interview at the White House in Washington, D.C., one PBS reporter named Liz Landers was called “rotten” by the president after she asked some tough questions.
She asked for the reason why the FBI seized election records in Arizona. Trump replied that it was probably because the FBI thought that the election was rigged. The Washington, D.C. reporter said that the election wasn’t rigged, and Trump asked how she would know about such a thing. The woman then replied that his former attorney general, Bill Barr, had stated there was not measurable voter fraud to change the outcome of the election.
Despite this reply, Trump still insisted that the election was rigged. The Washington, D.C. reporter then asked what evidence Trump had that made him think so. The president, not liking this answer, accused the woman of being a rotten reporter if she didn’t agree with what he said.
Online, many internet users mocked the way Trump answered the Washington, D.C. questions. His stubborn stance regarding the 2020 election and his lack of proof also made people question his belief further. “Trump: ‘When you don’t agree with me and repeat my election claims, you’re a rotten reporter.’ THANK YOU for calling him out. Every reporter needs to do this to him on all of his lies,” one user said.
Others praised the Washington, D.C. reporter for daring to ask such a question to Trump. “That reporter deserves a medal. All the mainstream media should be fact-checking that lying politician like this. Real journalism,” one commenter wrote.
Some users argued that there was indeed voter fraud, but said it wasn’t done by Trump’s political opponents and instead claimed it was done by Trump himself. “What’s funny is there WAS evidence of election fraud in Arizona in 2020… PERPETRATED BY DONALD TRUMP. It blows my mind that this person was elected again…” one user said.
While there were many people who supported the Washington, D.C. reporter, there were also those who sided with President Trump. “I wasn’t aware that a former AG six years ago outweighs a current FBI investigation based on new evidence,” one commenter wrote.
Another said, “His own AG was a disgruntled worker who had been fired by Trump. How can you claim to be a journalist and leave something that important out? Are you lying? Or are you just a Democrat supporter dressed up as a so-called journalist?”
