One should never drink and drive, yet despite that, many people still do. Inevitably, someone is bound to get hurt because of a drunk driver’s mistake. A recent incident occurred in Norfolk County, Massachusetts, where a drunk driver ran a stop sign at a school bus stop, nearly colliding with another vehicle. This happened while the woman was reportedly attempting to leave the scene of an earlier crash.
In the video, several Massachusetts residents can be seen attempting to prevent the drunk driver from fleeing the scene. The cameraman told the driver to sit down and wait for Massachusetts police to arrive. The woman continued to deny being in the wrong. When she opened her door under the order of a resident to sit in her car, bottles of alcohol fell to the ground from the driver’s seat. Seeing this, the cameraman expressed shock and anger.
Unfortunately, the drunk driver refused to remain in her seat. In another scene, a woman can be seen pinning the driver to the snow. The Massachusetts driver told them to get off her, all while young children watched in shock. The parent managed to keep the driver from running until police officers arrived in the nick of time to handcuff her.
When internet users saw what happened to the Massachusetts drunk driver, many applauded the parents for acting quickly and preventing her from fleeing. “Somebody’s luck ran out… thankfully a parent had eyes on the situation,” one commenter said.
Many criticized the drunk driver, questioning why she chose to commit such a reckless act. It was obvious that if you drink and drive, you will get into trouble at best and could seriously hurt someone at worst. “If anyone wants a reason to get sober, look no further,” one user said. Perhaps seeing how miserable the woman looked after her terrible decisions showed that it was never a good idea to be intoxicated and then go for a drive. Another user wrote, “Smh I hate people that think it’s okay to drink alcohol and drive.”
Some users wondered why the Massachusetts driver thought it was a good idea to literally leave proof of her crime right on her driver’s seat. “The bottle next to the driver’s door is a prosecutor’s dream,” one user wrote. Another added, “If she was smart, she would’ve gotten out of the car with the bottle of liquor, opened it, and drank the whole thing in front of everybody while they were recording the video.”
