A man who looked just like Jeffrey Epstein was having a normal day, driving along Interstate 95 in Florida on his way to play tennis, when someone recorded him, and the video quickly went viral. Within days, he became so well known online that he was even invited to The Nicky Gordo Show to share his story.
Known as Palm Beach Pete, the man whom much of the internet mistook for Jeffrey Epstein is a former tennis player, fashion entrepreneur, and real estate executive. Recounting the moment, Pete said he was simply going about a normal day when “some knucklehead films me, and the next thing I know, my phone is blowing up.”
As soon as the video went viral, Pete said he was at a restaurant with his girlfriend when people began asking to take photos with him. As acknowledged in the video, the coincidences are just crazy. Not only does Pete look awfully similar to Epstein, but he also lives in Florida, which further fueled online conspiracy theories.
Social Media Reacts to Florida’s Jeffrey Epstein Lookalike
The video quickly sparked a wave of jokes, as well as some more outlandish conspiracy theories online. Some social media users joked that, after faking his death, Jeffrey Epstein was actually “hiding in plain sight” in Florida. Others said that “he just moved to Palm Beach and changed his hat.”
Multiple people, likely joking, asked, “Can we get some DNA evidence?” Others, however, appeared skeptical that it was all a coincidence, writing, “Two people who look exactly alike and live in the same place? I’m not buying it.”
While most folks seemed amused by the coincidence, others pointed out some differences between the two men. “To be honest, I thought it was Epstein until he started talking,” one person revealed, referencing his completely different voice and intonation compared to the infamous billionaire. Someone else noted that “there’s a passing resemblance, but I’d bet he’s wearing the sunglasses because his eyes don’t look like Epstein.”
Finally, some social media users also discussed how quickly people’s lives can change after something goes viral, “One random clip and suddenly you’re trending for something you have nothing to do with. Wild how fast things spiral online.” “Sometimes fame finds you in the weirdest ways,” another added.
