A woman in Manhattan, New York, shared a TikTok video describing a verbal altercation she said occurred on a subway platform at Columbus Circle. According to her account, she had a brief exchange with another family that escalated into a confrontation. The video has drawn attention online as viewers reacted to the interaction and the events described in the post.

I am hesitant to post this as I’m not sure if this would support my mental health, however their faces should be displayed because they both harassed and violated me. I was walking down the stairs to the Columbus Circle station and a woman and man were in front of me. I politely said ‘Excuse me’ to the woman to which she was turned around to face me and responded passive aggressively and then the man said something along the lines of ‘Get the f out of here.’ I said shut up and walk through the turnstile thinking that interaction ended. As I was walking closer to the 1 train platform, I see the man walk up to me and he stands less than an inch from me (his feet almost touching mine). I step back and grab my phone to record out of fear of my safety. Their ‘son’ throws insults at me and the family continues to stay with me and mock me as I’m waiting for my train. I kept yelling ‘Get away from me. You followed me.’ They finally left (to a different platform than the one I initially went to mind you). I don’t expect anything tangible to come of this, however I do believe in the power of holding people accountable. #harassment #nycsubway #women #safety #protection

The video was posted to TikTok on March 20 by user @jessko__. It began circulating online as viewers discussed the confrontation described in the caption and shown in the clip.

The video appears to show a verbal dispute between the woman recording and a family at the Columbus Circle subway station. According to the caption, the disagreement began after she said “excuse me” while walking behind them. She also claims that others nearby did not intervene during the interaction. It is not clear from the video what was said by all parties involved, as the footage does not include full audio of the exchange.

Viewers Respond to New York Subway Altercation Video

The video sparked reactions online.

Some users expressed support for the woman, saying the behavior shown in the video was inappropriate. One commenter wrote, “No one should be spoken to like that in public.” Others focused on the situation itself, with one saying, “This happens way too often on public transit.”

Some viewers questioned the full context of the interaction, noting that the video does not show everything that may have occurred before recording began. Other viewers also commented on how common these types of encounters can be in crowded public spaces.

The video appears to be gaining attention due to the relatability of public transit conflicts and the limited context shown in the footage, which has led viewers to debate what may have happened before and during the interaction.

The video continues to circulate as viewers share their perspectives on the interaction.
