A woman recorded herself being threatened with ICE after being called an “immigrant” by another driver after a minor car accident in California. The incident was posted to the social media platform TikTok, where various viewers commented below and condemned the latter’s behavior.
At the beginning of the video, you can actually hear the woman who claims her car was hit tell the woman recording, “You’re an immigrant! I’m about to get your papers!“
The video above was originally posted to TikTok by user @maria.romero744 and features what appears to be a car accident within the state of California. Context about what happened before the recording began is unclear, though you can hear the woman who alleges to have been hit say, “She hit my car, ya’ll,” to the camera.
Immediately after she says that, she looks to a different person outside of view from the camera and says, “I’m about the call ICE. Tell her I’m about to call ICE right now. I’m about to call ICE right now, on my momma,” while pointing towards the woman who was recording. While this is where the video ends, a new one was posted to the same TikTok account that further details things.
This update is a photo of a charity page via an unknown social media story that reads, “Support Maria After Discrimination Accident,” with an image of what is likely her car after the accident. The video has the hashtag #GoFundMe, though we were unable to locate the name of this fund on the GoFundMe website. In the image, her car appears to be severely damaged on the back passenger door, and she asks for $450 towards her goal.
California Woman Threatens ICE on Driver After Car Accident
Within the United States, there have been various reports of conflicts of interest between civilians and the federal agency known as ICE (the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency). As a result, commenters under the video posted their opinions on the situation, with one person even pointing out, “why not call the insurance company?” Another person pointed out the tone of voice that the woman being recorded used, saying, “That line is soooo lame like genuinely.”
Additional updates have not been made to the account concerning more details of the accident. However, it is hoped that the situation wasn’t unnecessarily escalated and both drivers were able to get to their destinations safely.
