‘Florida Is Full’: Florida Native Warns State Could Become ‘90% Concrete’ Due to Influx of New Residents

If you live in Florida, have you noticed?

Says Florida Native Who is Concerned That Her Home State Will Someday Be 90% Concrete Due to Northerners Moving There

One Florida woman says she is concerned with the rate of people who are moving to her home state from northern states. She couldn’t help but notice it’s having an impact on Florida’s ecosystem. Now, she’s speaking out about it on TikTok and giving them a specific warning: “Florida is full.”

Amelia (@amelia.millie00) shared a video explaining that she thinks Florida is becoming too full as more people move to her home state. Like other Floridians, she’s noticed the reality that developers are building more homes and shopping centers than ever before. To her, this is having a huge impact on Florida’s ecosystem. She believes that, “10 years from now, Florida will be 90% concrete.”

If our ecosystem wasn’t being demolished by new building homes and shopping centers I simply would not care. But at this rate, 10 years from now Florida will be 90% concrete. #florida #tampabay #floridalife #floridakeys

Amelia lectures Northerners moving to her state, saying they’re “destroying our ecosystem” and “Florida wildlife” little by little. She continues on, “I have seen farms that ended up having to sell.” She witnesses these farms become entire apartment complexes in front of her very eyes. A large patch of available land becomes homes for 500 people.

On top of the impact this is having on the ecosystem, Amelia also says the influx of Florida transplants means longer driving times. With more Florida citizens flooding the roads, it takes a longer time to get to work. Amelia shares on a personal level, “What should be a 20, 30-minute drive to work now takes me almost an hour. All because you guys wanna move here.”

Amelia angrily tells her audience that her and many other Floridians are “losing the beauty of Florida” because of all the movers. She goes on to say that she’s sick of seeing people post about wanting to move there. She explains, “The next post I see that says ‘convince my husband to move to Florida,’ I will not.” Amelia goes on to say, “Any Florida native will not be on your side about that.” Then, she adds with contempt, “The people that are in your comments saying, ‘Oh, don’t listen to these comments’ are the ones that already moved here and are part of the problem.” It’s quite clear she feels strongly about this opinion.

Commenters didn’t take one side or the other when it comes to Amelia’s stance. One comment reflected somebody’s opinion who disagrees with her: “You’re complaining about people moving there? It’s the businesses that are destroying nature.” One commenter who did agree with Amelia stated, “AGREE say it louder for the people in the back.” However, others took a completely neutral stance. One commenter stated, “I get what you are saying. But it’s also the construction companies, they shouldn’t be allowed to build houses with no yard. Even here in California they are literally townhouse style. No front yard, no back yards, no space between houses, no trees, literally nothing. That’s the problem!”

It’s clear that people are evenly divided on the issue of moving to Florida. But if you’re one of the people making a decision on whether or not to move, you need to do so based on your own research. TikTok does not represent how everybody feels about a particular subject.
