Florida Mother Shaken After Student Allegedly Put Her Child’s Name on an ‘Un-Alive’ List: ‘She’s Allowed Back Next Week Like Nothing Happened’

Are they okay?

When you send your children to school, you’re making the conscious decision to trust the school with their lives every day. One mother in Florida had to question that trust, when it was discovered her child was allegedly named in another student’s “un-alive” list. Now she’s wondering why the school won’t do anything at all.

Posted by TikTok user Amberleecishere (Amber), the video appeared to show Amber’s confrontation with the faculty at a Lake Wales, Florida school. After she learned of her child being named in a student’s apparent hit list, she was shocked to learn the student would be returning to school, anyway. The faculty tells Amber there was “no basis” for moving the student. Not even temporary expulsion. Amber wrote in the caption of her TikTok video, there was “No expulsion. No real consequences. She’s allowed back next week like nothing happened.”

You trust schools to keep your kids safe… until something like this happens. A student made a list of kids they wanted to un alive. My sons name was on it. No expulsion. No real consequences. She’s allowed back next week like nothing happened. I went to the school for answers… this is what I got. At what point do we start taking threats seriously? #HillcrestElementary #ProtectOurKids #SpeakUp #PolkCountyCharterSchools #LakeWalesCharterSchool

What is so bothersome about this situation, to Amber, is the fact that schools are supposed to protect the children. With so many violent things happening on school grounds, she thinks it isn’t “acceptable” they’re ignoring the reality of possible danger. Amber goes on to say the police found a second list in the student’s room when they searched her house.

When Amber says her children won’t return to school until she determines it’s safe, they refuse to give her information. The employee says, “I cannot confirm or deny any other student’s information.” Amber pushes back by revealing their conversation is being recorded and tries to show the faculty the code of conduct. There’s a section that states students are expelled for “threats or false reports.”

By the end of the video, Amber is begging them to take some type of action because her son is “scared to go to school.” She did try to get the police involved as well, who told her they investigated thoroughly. However, he does tell her that she can take matters to court. If they do so, the officer said the student wouldn’t be in school until court.

In an update video, Amber goes to her child’s school with him on his first day back after the scary incident. She checks to make sure his class was actually changed so she can settle her soul. Commenters praised her, telling her she’s doing the right thing, given the situation.

Parents Flooded Amber’s TikTok Video With Support

One TikTok user claiming to have worked for a school remarked that “lots of laws prevent the sharing of certain information.” They suggested getting a lawyer was Amber’s top priority. As one commenter put it, “This is sketchy on the school side.”

In addition to taking the video directly to the “sheriff’s office,” a commenter wrote the news should be notified, too. “I would keep my child at home,” they admitted.

One commenter took it a step further and recommended pressing charges and filing a “restraining order.” However, that would likely be done at the same time as a court hearing.

Time will tell what happens. One thing is for certain: Schools need to do everything they can to protect students, no matter what.
