A man in Nevada was recorded having a public meltdown during a chess event after losing a match against chess grandmaster and streamer Anna Cramling, who is known online as Akanemsko. The confrontation quickly spread online after the man began accusing the streamer of wasting his time before cursing at her and giving her the middle finger. The incident drew widespread attention because many viewers felt the man’s reaction became unnecessarily hostile over a casual chess match.
Clips of the incident were first uploaded to TikTok, where they gained more than 3.8 million views, over 340,000 likes, and thousands of comments. The footage was later reposted to Reddit, where it received roughly 37,000 upvotes and more than 1,800 comments as viewers debated the awkward interaction.
In the video, the match initially appears calm and casual near the end of a convention event. The woman, a professional chess player and popular streamer, patiently waits while the Nevada man takes a long time deciding on his next move. According to viewers familiar with tournament-style chess, each player is normally limited on time during games, and the man had already exceeded his allotted time. At one point, the streamer even reportedly allowed him additional time to think through his move.
However, because the convention was beginning to shut down, the streamer started packing some of her belongings while waiting. That moment appeared to upset the Nevada man, who suddenly declared that he surrendered before walking away from the table.
A short time later, the man returned and accused the streamer of wasting his time. In an apparent attempt to calm the situation and avoid further conflict, the streamer offered him a premium membership to Chess.com valued at around $60. Although the man accepted it, he still continued cursing at her and flashed his middle finger twice before leaving.
In a follow-up video posted afterward, the streamer addressed criticism from some viewers who felt she had been too generous toward the man. She explained that her goal was simply to de-escalate the situation and avoid creating a larger scene at the event.
Nevada Chess Meltdown Sparks Online Criticism
Internet users who saw the video were largely critical of the Nevada man’s behavior. Many viewers said the outburst seemed disproportionate and unnecessarily aggressive given the situation. “Incel alert,” one user wrote.
Some commenters also argued that the Nevada man did not appear genuinely interested in the chess match itself. Instead, they believed he may have been more interested in interacting personally with the streamer, whom many users described as attractive. According to those commenters, the man may have taken it personally when she started packing up her belongings while he was still thinking through his move.
Others pointed to the man’s comments about the streamer supposedly going to dinner with someone else and accused him of acting as though he expected more personal attention from her despite them being strangers meeting briefly at a convention. “‘Wasted my time.’ ‘Dinner with someone else.’ Did he confuse the chess convention with a speed-dating meetup?” one Redditor joked.
The clip continues circulating online as viewers discuss convention etiquette, streamer interactions with fans, and how quickly competitive situations can escalate into public confrontations.
