A woman visited a Brooklyn restaurant in New York City for a food review. It was cut short, however, as grief took over her just moments into the video. She and her father, who died years ago, made the restaurant their favorite, and she broke down in tears after visiting it for the first time without him.
The woman’s name is Kerry Rose Schwartz, whose handle is comfywithkerry. Her content focuses on food reviews, and she decided to visit La Villa Pizzeria in New York. Her vulnerable moment became viral, garnering 436,100 views, 81,000 likes, and more than 5,000 comments.
In her clip’s description, Kerry shared what this visit meant to her. She would always grab lunch with her father at La Villa, which eventually became their favorite restaurant. Three years ago, however, he passed away, and this particular visit was the first time she had set foot inside the pizzeria ever since.
She began showing the food that was brought to her table. Kerry showed the bread and the salad, but as she tried to continue speaking, her voice cracked. Her face began to fill with overwhelming emotions, and tears started to appear, especially as she tried the bread, which was her father’s favorite.
“Walking back in there for the first time without him today, honestly, broke me,” Kerry said. “Just looking at the bread he loved left me winded… a sucker punch to my gut, my heart.”
After reminiscing about what the New York restaurant meant to her, she stopped recording. She captioned, “The thought of eating here without him for the first time was too hard to bear.”
Internet Joins Kerry In Her Grief
The video sparked multiple responses online.
Many users talked about grief. One viewer said, “I get it, girl… It’s like glitter. It never goes away.” Another one told Kerry, “You did a hard thing. He was with you.”
Other viewers shared their own stories, also grief-related. One commented, “My husband passed away five years ago, and there are still places that we went to that I can’t go to yet.” Another one added, “My dad was my best friend. He has been in heaven for 10 years now. My heart still hurts.”
Kerry continued to share her content online, reviewing another New York restaurant while she was in the area. Still, if one thing is certain, it is that her love for her father will never extinguish.
