A Texas family never expected a bird encounter to turn into viral internet chaos, but after a video showed a kid getting aggressively chased and attacked, viewers online can’t decide whether the clip is hilarious or genuinely terrifying.
In the now-viral clip, the startled child sprints away as the bird repeatedly swoops in, leaving family members screaming and laughing in the background. It’s unclear what triggered the bird’s aggressive behavior, but many viewers said the chaotic encounter felt like something straight out of a comedy sketch.
The video comes by way of @deedanielee, also known as Brandi, who has a modest following on TikTok and typically shares lighthearted family and everyday-life content, including funny moments with kids and unexpected real-life chaos. The clip has since gone viral, racking up over 3.7 million views, more than 30,000 comments, and 149,000 shares.
In it, a Northern Mockingbird, typically found across southern states like Texas and Florida, can be seen chasing and harassing a startled child who is playing with her puppy in a pushchair. The child runs away screaming for help, while the person recording, presumed to be Brandi, can be heard chuckling at the sheer bizarreness of the bird encounter.
Social Media Reactions
As the clip spread across social media, it quickly sparked a wave of reactions online, with viewers divided over whether the moment was hilarious, unsettling, or a bit of both. On TikTok, one viewer wrote, “i’m crying, what is the birds problem??” while another added, “all the ppl saying this isn’t funny grow up 😂.” A third user shared a meme of Chucky laughing into the camera, to which Brandi replied, “Yes I was🫣😂”.
However, not everyone saw the funny side. Others expressed concern, with one saying, “Am I the only one who doesn’t find this amusing?” and another sharing the same sentiment, writing, “This is not funny…I’m not sure why you think this is.”
Fortunately, from what can be gathered, the child does not appear to have been hurt during the encounter with the bird. Funny, frightening, or both — the internet still can’t quite agree.
