While on a walk with her dog, a California woman was confronted by a woman hanging out at a family park. She suspected the dog owner of not picking up her dog’s poop, only to be corrected on the spot. The confrontation then moved to the Internet, where people are up in arms over who’s in the right and how it should have been handled.
TikTok Love.luci.a (Luci) was passing the park in San Diego, the woman had passed her on a pick, yelling out to Luci that she should pick up after her dog. This left Luci confused, as her dog, Mari, was still in the middle of pooping. She decided to confront the ‘Karen’ about why she was prematurely yelling at her for something she didn’t yet have the chance to do.
When Luci does, the woman, sounding a little hostile and annoyed, immediately asks her, “Did you guys pick up after your job?” Luci says they did and wonders why the woman accused them. “Why yell at a stranger?” The woman explains: “Because it looked like you weren’t picking up your dog’s [expletive]. If you picked up the poop, it’s not a problem.” Luci accuses the woman of “having a lot of problems going on” for yelling at her.
As they’re walking away, Luci says to the woman, “I would appreciate it if you don’t yell at people next time.” The woman doesn’t let that fly. She turns and says, “No, I’m going to continue to do that because lots of people don’t pick up after their dogs. You’re doing a great job filming it.” She then gives Luci a big smile and a “thumbs up” for the camera.
The Internet remains divided on who is in the wrong
This launched a debate in the comment section of Luci’s TikTok video. Not only was behavior brought into question, many argued the woman was ultimately right for speaking up, even if she did sound a little peeved.
“Yeah, definitely on this woman’s side! Glad she said something to you,” one viewer wrote, which garnered over 100 Likes and got Luci to respond. “She said something to my back while she was biking away but okay.”
One brought up a valid point, arguing it was about tone. “Yelling at someone prematurely is not ok,” they wrote. “Both were right, wrong in the approach but the reasons were right,” another TikTok interjected with.
Other comments ignored the video altogether and suggested to Luci that this didn’t have to be posted at all and that it was petty. “This video is not doing what you thought it would.” The conversation rages on, with the general consensus being that it could’ve been handled better.
