A woman in San Diego, California, revealed, in tears, that her pet sitter had lost her cat. After frantically looking for her, she then issued a heartbreaking update. Unfortunately, her adorable pet had passed away, and she had most likely found the cat’s remains.
Anna Grace shared the news on TikTok. She often posts family and lifestyle content online, but the initial clip attached above became her biggest clip ever. It garnered 5.4 million views, 666,800 likes, and 20,100 comments.
The California woman, in tears, explained that her pet sitter had lost her cat in the University City area of San Diego. Her cat, named Blair, was a black and white tuxedo and was last seen near Camino Noguera and Camino Calma.
Anna explained that the pet sitter had lost Blair just five minutes after being at her apartment. When she was bringing her stuff in, the cat went outside and then back in. Believing she was an outdoor cat, the pet sitter, according to Anna, left the door open all night. She wasn’t an outdoor cat at all.
“She claimed to have had pet-sitting experience before,” Anna said. “In fact, she bargained for more money when we were trying to figure out how much to pay her because of her experience. But she didn’t know that not all animals are outdoor animals, especially in an area like this.”
Then, the California woman said that, a full day after Blair left the apartment, she got the news from the pet sitter. She and her husband were on a trip together at the time, and they had to spend $8,000 to come back and look for their cat.
Anna begged for help finding her cat, saying that she had been with her for the past 12 years.
Remains Found, Woman Heartbroken
A day later, unfortunately, Anna shared a disheartening update. In a second viral clip, she detailed that they believed Blair had passed away just a day after posting her first video.
Anna detailed that a team had come to help find Blair alongside a Thermal drone and a scent hound. The hound, tragically, led Anna and team to Blair’s remains, which were located not very far from home.
Understandably, Anna was devastated by the news. Not willing to accept it at first, the team told her that there was always a possibility that they got the wrong cat. She, however, came to terms with Blair’s most likely passing.
“I think we know in our hearts that she’s gone,” she said, later saying that she and her husband had “the most devastating week and day” of their lives. She added in the clip’s description, “I have no words right now except Blair, I’m so sorry.”
Internet Mourns
The clips sparked multiple responses online.
Some viewers comforted Anna. One said, “She knows you loved her. It is not your fault. I’m so so sorry for your loss.” Another one commented, “Blair is so lucky to have parents who would send out a thermal drone and scent hounds. She is always with you.”
Most users, however, were angry at the pet sitter. One wrote, “Please seek legal action. This was not an accident.” Another one added, “Find a lawyer. I will donate to lawyers’ fees. Justice for Blair.”
It is unclear if Anna will take legal action against the pet sitter. For the time being, she doesn’t feel like talking about her and just focuses on mourning Blair.
