A man in New York is currently facing backlash after he was filmed during an incident in which he allegedly stole baked goods from a bakery.
It was alleged that the man entered the bakery carrying a large bag, which some believe he intended to use to steal items. In the video, he was seen standing behind the counter in front of a large display case. He began picking up baked goods from the display and placing them into his bag.
As someone inside the store filmed the incident, they could be heard telling another person to “call the cops.” An employee was then seen speaking to the man, presumably attempting to stop him, but he continued grabbing items from the display. The person filming then asked, “Where is your manager?” The video ended with the man placing the items in his hands into the bag before leaving the bakery.
The video has been viewed by over one million people since it was posted. Additional details were shared in the caption, where it was alleged that the person filming had seen the same man about half an hour earlier at a Home Depot store, where he was also reportedly stealing. The account owner wrote, “Two stores. One morning. One bag. Zero consequences. This is what happens when you decriminalize theft in a Democrat run city.”
Viewers Criticize New York Man for Allegedly Stealing
The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers criticized the New York man after the video circulated, with some expressing anger over the alleged theft from the bakery. However, some of the comments also included offensive and generalized language, with one person writing, “That’s not a civilized man, that’s an animal with selfish intentions. Send him back to his [expletive] third world country.” Another commenter blamed political leadership, saying, “Caused by lack of consequences, exactly what happens when democrats are in power for too long.”
Others blamed this alleged theft on Mayor Zohran Mamdani. “Citizens will have to stand their ground or move our of NYC. It will only get worse until they drive the lunatic left out of office!” one person wrote. Another person said, “This is what it looks like when society begins to crumble. This is exactly what the left wants to happen.”
The video sparked discussion about accountability and who should be held responsible for incidents of public theft. It also led to broader conversations about whether stronger consequences are needed to discourage similar behavior in the future.
