It is now official: the summer of gaming has begun. The first show of the week was the State of Play of June 2026, and well, to put it in a polite way, it wasn’t that great. We only had two first-party announcements, with one being just new cutscenes and a bit of gameplay, and the other being a world premiere. But, fortunately, the third-party lineup was pretty sweet, so that’s the silver lining. In any case, here’s everything that was announced during the State of Play of June 2026.
Marvel’s Wolverine Available for Pre-Order Now
We’ve all been waiting a long time for this, and it is finally here: the release date of Marvel’s Wolverine. On top of a bombastic new gameplay trailer featuring Jean Grey and other familiar characters from the X-Men universe, we now know that Insomniac’s next title is launching on September 15, 2026. And to make things better for those excited to play it, pre-orders are live right now.
The Knights of Doom Debut in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls
The lineup of characters in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls just keeps getting bigger, and today the roster welcomed three new fighters: Magneto, the Green Goblin, and Carnage into the ranks of the Knights of Doom. The best part is that we still have one more team to get more members, which we’ll likely see just before the game’s official launch in August.
The Limbless Hero Returns in Rayman Legends Retold
The one thing we were not expecting to see in the State of Play was a new Rayman game, but we got that one. The remake of Rayman Legends is coming, and it brings gorgeous visuals, four-player co-op, and even new additions that will make the reimagining of this adventure one of the greatest platformers in the series.
Bancho the Chef Is a Stylish Sequel to Dave the Diver
Speaking of unexpected things, we also got a trailer for Bancho the Chef, which puts us in the shoes of the titular character as he learns the ways of the legendary art of sushi-making, in another epic, mini-game-fueled adventure.
Embrace the Yokai in Kemuri: Hunt the Unseen
Kemuri: Hunt the Unseen was another surprise in the most recent State of Play, and it is a 3-player co-op title where you hunt yokai and even wield their powers. You know, fighting fire with fire. While it is still far away from arriving, we’re glad to see a new take on video game demon-slaying antics.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis Lands Next Year
The reimagining of the adventure that started it all finally has a release date. That’s right, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis launches on February 12, 2027. While still some months away from arriving, we’re glad that one of the most anticipated Tomb Raider titles finally has an official release date, and from what we’ve seen, Crystal Dynamics is cooking up yet another banger.
The Lost Wild Is Puro Dino-Survival Horror
While everyone’s hearts skipped a beat thinking it was Dino Crisis, Annapurna surprised us instead with The Lost Wild, which, frankly, looks just as great. This first-person survival horror will see us escaping from history-accurate dinosaurs, in what seems to be an atmospheric and tense experience for fans of the genre.
Phantom Blade Zero is Almost Here
It might be three years since we saw the first trailer of Phantom Blade Zero, but after several showcases, teasers, and speculations, we now know it will launch on September 9. If that wasn’t enough, there is a full trailer and pre-order details coming later this summer, so keep an eye out for those if you’re keen on trying this action title.
Console Players Are Ready to Land in Arrakis as Part of Dune: Awakening’s Launch on PS5
After a successful launch on PC, Dune: Awakening is finally coming to PS5 on September 22. Alongside it, players will get to enjoy a new single-player mode, a new storyline, and many more updates that will make Arrakis feel like a brand-new arid wasteland for players to explore.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins and Dynasty Warriors 3 Collide
On top of setting its sights for an October 1 release date, today, Koei Tecmo also unveiled that the protagonist of Dynasty Warriors: Origins will be coming to Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered. Many have already been waiting for this highly anticipated remake, and the wait is almost over.
No Rest for the Wicked Leaves the PC Limbo
Another title that will no longer be exclusive to PC players is No Rest for the Wicked, which will land on PS5 sometime in October. While there isn’t a specific release date, we now have a launch window to welcome console players into one of the most unique soulslike in recent times.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword Gets a Release Date and Demo
This State of Play also gave us a double announcement for Onimusha: Way of the Sword. We now have confirmation that it will launch on September 25, 2026, but we also got the announcement of a demo. If you want to try the new combat of this long-awaited title, you can try it right now on your PS5.
SILENT HILL: Townfall Arrives in September
And with every single title running away from GTA 6, we have another one launching in September, and that is SILENT HILL: Townfall. This new entry in the series will release on September 24, and we also got a glimpse at the story and more of that first-person horror of this installment in the new trailer. So, if you want to try it, make sure to pre-order it right now.
Ace Combat 8 Will Give Ace Combat Zero As a Pre-Order Bonus
There were many surprises during the Ace Combat 8 trailer, but out of all of them, we got a release date for October 2, 2026, and also the announcement that Ace Combat Zero will be a pre-order bonus for those who purchase digitally and an early purchase bonus for physical edition buyers. Two games in one is a pretty sweet deal.
A New Stuntman Has Arrived
Many of us were confused at first and even thought it could be a Ready Player One: The Game. But no. Instead, we got the announcement of Stuntman: Hollywood. While it didn’t get a release date like previous titles, it is great to see that the series is back and looking better than ever. }
ILL Gets a Horror-Fueled Story Trailer
One of the most unsettling yet best-looking games of the State of Play got a brand-new story trailer, and we’re talking about ILL. While some of us already knew a bit about it, we now got an early look at its plot and at several of the creatures we will be fighting or running away from.
Control Resonant Lands on September 24
The long-anticipated sequel, Control Resonant, finally got a release date for September 24, but also a short yet impactful story trailer. We got to see a bit more of what Dylan will face in this title, as well as see some familiar faces that fans of the Control universe will love.
Neil Newborn Joins the Cast of Until Dawn 2
Baldur’s Gate’s favorite vampire thief (or whatever class you respecced him to) joins the cast of the recently announced Until Dawn 2. While the details are a bit scarce at the moment, this new entry in the horror series is coming, and it is looking as beautiful and as gory as ever, and with the same perilous choices we love to make.
Santa Monica Studio Reveals God of War: Laufey
And the big reveal of this State of Play was the unexpected yet welcome God of War: Laufey. That’s right, we will get an experience with Kratos’ late wife (no longer spoilers; the game is out almost 10 years ago), but instead of being a prequel, it will run parallel to the first game, or at least that’s what we infer after looking at the gameplay. Also, we have a cube played by Jack Quaid, so it will be pretty interesting to see how everything takes… shape. No pun intended. Still, it seems this title is far from launching, so there isn’t a release date yet for it.
The truth is that, while the first-party reveals were a bit underwhelming, with only one new one compared to the times when Sony would unveil several, third-party titles looked fantastic, and we can’t wait to try most of them once September gets here.
