A Black man in New York is facing backlash online after he accused a restaurant of racism following an argument with staff. It was alleged online that the incident took place at Yard House. According to these claims, the man ordered a Hennessy. He was then informed that he could not pay for the item using an EBT card, after which he began causing a scene inside the restaurant. It hasn’t been verified whether this was the true reason behind the argument.
In the video, the man was seen filming staff behind the bar while insulting one of them and using derogatory language. “You are a sorry excuse for a man,” he said. He then filmed the restaurant’s manager, who appeared to be asking him to leave. During the interaction, the man continued to insult staff and was heard repeatedly using the n-word.
The man then filmed the manager up close as the manager said he would call the police. In response, the man said, “Call them. Call them [n-word].” He continued filming staff while using the racial slur, and also said, “You are a slave to the system [expletive].”
The manager then told him, “have a good day,” as he began walking toward the front door. The man followed him and yelled, “escort me out,” before insulting the manager again. He continued shouting at the manager and accused the restaurant of being racist. “Racist [expletive] establishment,” he said before leaving the restaurant.
Viewers Wonder About Reason for Black New York Man and Cashier’s Argument
The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers criticized the New York man over his behavior at the restaurant. They also wondered what might be behind the argument, as some believed inthe EBT theory. “End all EBT and overhaul the program,” one person wrote. Another person said, “Hommie thinks that EBT card is American Express Black? Man are they dumb what.”
More viewers expressed outrage regarding the incident. “No social awareness. EBT won’t cover Hennessy I guess. Who would have known?” one person wrote. Another person said, “He’s telling people they are a slave to the system but he’s got an EBT card, and he’s probably the 3rd generation in his family to be on it.” Someone else added, “[expletive] with an EBT card claims others are a slave to the system, yet he cannot buy what he wants with the card given to him by the system.”
The video prompted online discussion about concerns over how some individuals may react during arguments in public establishments. It also led to broader conversations among those who believed in the EBT theory about EBT card regulations and differing opinions on whether the rules surrounding their use should be made stricter.
