A woman in Arizona was left shocked after entering an Uber she had ordered and noticing that the driver had women’s underwear placed on the steering wheel.
The woman filmed a video inside the Uber showing that the driver had placed women’s underwear on top of the steering wheel. She later added text over the video, writing, “Is having a woman’s thong across your steering wheel a new trend? First time seeing it was in my Uber today.”
Due to the unusual nature of the situation, the woman asked the driver for confirmation to ensure she was not mistaken about the item. The driver laughed and confirmed that it was women’s underwear. He then explained that he had seen a similar practice on Instagram and said he thought it was “cool.”
The driver also said that he had purchased the pair of underwear specifically for that purpose. The woman responded that she initially assumed it belonged to a girlfriend, to which he replied, “very much single.” The situation reportedly became more uncomfortable for the passenger as the ride continued. In another video, the woman said the driver continued discussing his personal romantic life during the trip. She also alleged that he took a job interview while driving.
Uber quickly responded to the video, stating that the behavior shown was not acceptable. “Hi Sydney, this isn’t okay and we’re so sorry this happened. Please DM us the email/phone number linked to your Uber account and the trip details, so we can look into this,” the company wrote in a comment.
Viewers Left Shocked After Seeing Arizona Woman’s Video
The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers expressed shock after seeing the Arizona woman’s video, with some saying the driver’s behavior was inappropriate. “Reported immediately,” one person wrote. Another person said, “bought a pair is absolutely insane.” Someone else added, “That’s creepy.”
Others defended the driver, with one person writing, “not saying it isn’t weird but I kinda don’t like that Uber is here trying to fire him just for making a strange choice.” This prompted disagreement from another user, who said, “If you aren’t socially aware enough to understand that anyone having women’s underwear on their steering wheel will make people uncomfortable then you shouldnt be working face to face with customers..”
The video prompted discussion online about what Uber drivers keep in their vehicles and how certain personal items may make passengers uncomfortable. It also led to broader conversations about how companies vet and evaluate individuals working in customer-facing roles.
