A woman in Tennessee is facing backlash online after a video of her preaching the gospel to fellow passengers during a flight sparked debate on social media about appropriate behavior in shared public spaces.

The woman shared a video of herself on the plane, standing in the aisle and addressing other passengers. After greeting those on board, she told them that since the aircraft had not yet begun moving, they “might as well have some good deep conversations.”

OPEN AIR AIRPLANE PREACHING ✈️ Our plane broke down, and I felt the Holy Spirit telling me to share my faith. Honestly, I was scared as CRAP, but God gave me the courage to step out :) What happened next was incredible yall, I got to pray over an entire row of teenage girls and their moms after they shared their faith with me ! And to top it all off, the woman sitting next to me turned out to be a pastor! Before we landed, she prayed over me, blessed me, and was WEEPING ! GOD IS MOVING! Be bold and say yes to Him—you never know what He has planned :) “Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season.” — 2 Timothy 4:2 FULL AIRPLANE TESTIMONY VID COMING SOON 👀 #jesus #preaching #airplane #faith #godisgood

It soon became clear that the “deep conversations” she was referring to involved sharing her Christian faith with the passengers. Standing in the aisle, she told those on board, “I just want to let you guys know that Jesus loves you guys, and that God sent his only son, Jesus, to die on the cross for y’all. And I just want to share because we might as well. We’re not moving. We’re not doing anything, you know? So I just want to share that God loves you guys.” She then concluded her remarks by saying, “Amen.”

The video sparked considerable backlash online, with some viewers initially assuming that the woman was joking or creating content for social media. However, she later posted a follow-up video explaining that she was serious about her actions. In that video, she said she had been wearing a “Jesus Saves” hoodie and had originally planned to share her faith, but had become nervous. According to her, after one of her flights experienced a breakdown or delay, she felt encouraged to go through with it and addressed the passengers as seen in the original clip. She also said that, following her remarks, she prayed with several passengers on the flight who were willing to participate.

Viewers Criticize Tennessee Woman for Preaching on a Flight

The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers criticized the Tennessee woman for preaching to passengers during the flight, arguing that it was inappropriate in a shared public setting where people could not easily leave. Some commenters said they would have reacted negatively if they had been on the plane themselves. “The way I would open that emergency exit,” one person wrote. Another person said, “What a weird thing to do.”

More viewers criticized the woman’s actions, with one person saying, “I would’ve immediately complained to the flight attendant.” Another commented, “My second hand embarrassment has second hand embarrassment.” At the same time, not everyone disagreed with her. Several viewers defended the woman, arguing that she was simply expressing her religious beliefs and sharing a message she felt was important.

The video sparked a conversation about what many people consider appropriate settings for discussing religion and whether shared public spaces, such as airplane cabins, are suitable venues for public preaching. It also led to broader discussions about respecting differing beliefs and being mindful that people in public settings may come from a wide range of religious, cultural, and personal backgrounds.
