Outrage erupted online after Mexican soccer fans in California were filmed attacking a truck following Mexico’s win in a World Cup match.

Mexico has had a strong start in the 2026 World Cup, winning its opening matches 2–0 against South Africa and 1–0 against South Korea, securing an early spot in the knockout stage and top position in their group. Supporters of the Mexican national football team in Mexican-American communities in the United States have been celebrating heavily, with watch parties, street gatherings, and public celebrations in major cities. Everyone didn’t welcome these celebrations.

A video that sparked debate online showed Mexico fans celebrating after a recent World Cup win. Hundreds of supporters took to the streets in Los Angeles, where the footage showed dozens of people surrounding a truck. In the video, several fans climbed onto the front of the vehicle, blocking it from moving as celebrations in the area intensified.

Fans on the ground could also be seen shaking the truck violently as it swayed from side to side. Another part of the video also showed the crowd surrounding a bus. Police sirens could be heard in the background during the scene. Some of the fans who surrounded the bus were seen pressing their hands against the glass in celebration. The video ended shortly after this point.

Viewers Outraged Over Video of Mexican Fans in California

The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers were outraged by how the Mexican fans in California celebrated, believing it was excessive behavior following the match. Some comments quickly took a racially charged turn, including calls for deportations. “Are they LA Mexicans or Mexico Mexicans? You know what [expletive] it! Deport them all!” one person wrote. This prompted another user to respond, “Can’t deport people that existed in califas before it was the USA. Mexicans will never leave.”

More people expressed outrage as one person asked, “And most of them are not leaving until they are forcibly deported, you can bet on it. How many did we let in this time?” Another commenter said, “Seems so long ago, but there was a day when @LAPDHQ wouldn’t allow this crap to happen. Now…pathetic. Not necessarily the street cops fault, it’s weak leadership scared to stand up and do what’s right to keep the citizens safe.”

The video sparked a conversation about appropriate ways to celebrate a major sporting victory such as the World Cup and how large public gatherings can sometimes lead to chaotic or unsafe situations. It also led to broader discussions online about the role of law enforcement during such events and how quickly celebrations can escalate in crowded street environments.
