‘You Are Not The Problem, She Is’: Florida Woman Says Friendship Ended After Feeding Friend’s Kids Chef Boyardee

I thought fed was best.

A Florida woman says she lost a friend after feeding her children Chef Boyardee while babysitting them. The viral TikTok has sparked a debate about parenting expectations, but not necessarily for the reason you might think. While some commenters discussed the meal itself, most focused on the fact that the woman says she was repeatedly asked to watch six children for free without being provided food to feed them.

According to @chymarron_official, she had watched her friend’s children multiple times in the past and repeatedly asked the mother to provide food for the kids to eat while they were at her house. “I said, hey, if I watch all of your kids, six of them, you either need to buy something I can cook, give me money to buy groceries, or order a pizza and send it here,” she explained.

Chymarron says she gave her friend another chance despite that. This time, however, she claims the children arrived with nothing to eat and quickly rejected the few alternatives she had available. Eventually, she says, they settled on Chef Boyardee. The situation only became a problem when the children’s mother called to check on them.

According to Chymarron, the conversation quickly took a turn after one of the kids revealed what they had eaten. She claims the mother then called her directly and became upset over the meal.“She gonna tell me, ‘I don’t feed my kids that,’” the woman recalled. Rather than argue, the TikToker says she told her friend to come pick up the children if it was that big of an issue.

By the end of the video, the Florida TikToker said she was struggling to understand what she had done wrong. While she acknowledged the friendship may be over, she maintained that she had simply done her best with the food she had available.

TikTok Has Thoughts

Most commenters agreed that the friend was in the wrong, not Chymarron, and some even questioned whether the woman had ever been much of a friend to begin with. One person wrote, “YOU ARE NOT WRONG. You didn’t lose a friend, you lost a user.” Another added, “U R Not Wrong Baby Girl, U R An AMAZING young woman. Her loss NOT urs.” A third chimed in with, “You are not the problem, she is.”

Many parents were also quick to point out what they saw as the bigger issue: dropping off six children without providing food. “I’ve never used a free babysitter without providing food of some type. My son is a picky eater (that’s a me problem),” one person wrote.

Another chimed in, “I agree. If I drop my kids off somewhere and I have rules about what they’re allowed to eat then I will send them with their own food. Otherwise you’re free to feed them whatever you want.”

Others couldn’t understand why the Chef Boyardee was and issue in the first place. “There is nothing wrong with that. I ate that when I was a kid, and I don’t see what you did wrong. You asked her to bring something or order something,” one commenter argued.

The comment section was filled with people who felt there is an unspoken rule when it comes to free childcare: if someone is watching your children as a favor, providing food is ultimately the parent’s responsibility.  For many viewers, the story became about whether a person should be expected to repeatedly absorb the costs of helping someone else.
