A New York woman was filmed verbally harassing African workers at a Popeyes branch before proceeding to spit at them.

The video was recorded by a customer who was inside the restaurant during the confrontation. It is unclear what led to the argument before the customer began filming. In the footage, the woman could be seen yelling at several employees, whom she referred to as African. During the confrontation, she told them that they needed to “respect us” because they depended on the money they earned to send back to their families.

The woman then continued insulting the workers, telling them, “You are a piece of [expletive]” twice. She also told the employees that no matter where in Africa they came from, they had come to the United States because of “us.” She then said, “We make you. You never make us.” It is unclear from the video whether she was referring to Americans in general or specifically to African Americans when using the word “us.”

The confrontation escalated as the woman continued cursing at the employees, saying, “I don’t give a [expletive]. [Expletive] you.” She then appeared to spit at two employees standing behind the counter. As soon as this happened, several customers inside the restaurant reacted with audible shock at what they had just witnessed.

The woman initially started to leave but then turned around and walked back toward one of the employees, where she spat at the worker again while saying, “[Expletive] you too.” She then resumed walking toward the exit. In response, the employee appeared to spit back at the woman. Even as she remained inside the restaurant, the woman continued directing insults at the employees. At the end of the video, one of the workers called her “nasty.” It is unclear whether the woman faced any consequences following the incident.

The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers were left shocked by the New York woman’s behavior, particularly the moments in which she spat at the employees. Many argued that her actions crossed the line and warranted legal consequences. “That is assault and she needs to be arrested and charged. Ultimately she needs to pay damages to the victim, as well, trespassed from all Popeyes,” one person wrote. Another commenter said, “Remember when spitting on someone was a felony?! He/She needs her [expletive] kicked.”

Several people also expressed outrage over the incident and argued that the woman should face criminal charges for her actions. “I think if you spit in a restaurant you should have a special kind of charge. It’s just [expletive] nasty,” one person wrote. Another commenter said, “I wouldn’t even eat there after all that spitting.”

The video sparked a conversation about the challenges restaurant employees can face and how customer confrontations can quickly escalate into more serious incidents. It also led to discussions about whether spitting on another person should result in criminal charges, with many viewers arguing that such behavior is serious and should carry legal consequences.
