A woman in New York City, New York, got a fridge from a very prominent retailer, only to find that it was broken. She asked for a new one, and a new one was brought to her home. That one was also broken. Now, she is up for her third one, but things don’t look too optimistic.
The fridge saga was shared on TikTok by Sydney Benjamin. She is a known content creator who posts lifestyle clips, sharing them with her more than 600k followers, and has recently moved into her New York City apartment. However, things didn’t go as perfectly as she might have expected, as described in the video attached above. It has since garnered 202,600 views, 25,000 likes, and more than 250 comments.
From the get-go, Sydney warned her followers from buying appliances from AJ Madison, the aforementioned retailer. Why? Because her first fride in the infamous streak, she said, was broken. She got in contact with the company that delivered a second fridge to her new apartment, an event she also documented on her TikTok.
That second fridge, however, came broken.
“When I looked at it, the hose was broken, and the back plate was broken, so I refused delivery,” Sydney said.
Therefore, she decided to call AJ Madison again. But, according to her, the woman on the other line told her that, while they agreed to send yet another fridge, the third one in total, that was going to be their “final fridge.”
Sydney wasn’t a fan of that, of course. She responded, “No, it’s not. You didn’t deliver me a working fridge. You delivered me a broken fridge. That’s not a delivery. You didn’t deliver me a working fridge.”
No Third Fridge?
Her argument was met with the other woman hanging up the phone, she said. Things took another turn, as another AJ Madison called her and told her that they were not going to deliver a third fridge. Instead, they were going to send over replacements to fix the broken parts of her second fridge.
“If that was the case, you would have just come and fixed my fridge,” the New York woman said. “But you offered me a new fridge. A fridge needs to be new and working.”
The conversation continued, and Sydney detailed that the ones who delivered the fridge didn’t unbox it in front of her. Therefore, the AJ Madison employee told her they were going to make an “exception” and deliver her the third fridge. Sydney argued that no exception was needed, as the warranty requires them to send a replacement regardless.
“You need to give me a new fridge that works, not one that’s damaged. You’re not gonna tell me that this is gonna be the third and final fridge? Cause in my opinion, I just got one fridge. Second fridge wasn’t even a fridge. It was a heap of scraps anyways,” she concluded.
Reactions
The video sparked multiple responses, with many pointing out the likelihood, or lack thereof, of having two broken fridges in a row. One said, “You really do just have terrible luck.” Another one commented, “Why is everyone trying to raise your blood pressure!!!?“
Others blasted how her case was allegedly handled by AJ Madison. One wrote, “As someone in customer service, this made me so frustrated to hear.” Another one added, “They act like it’s coming out of their personal pocket.”
For the time being, there is no ETA on Sydney’s third fridge arriving at her new apartment. Hopefully, this one will be in pristine condition.
