Los Angeles Woman Calls Out ‘Golden Child’ Treatment as Whiny Sister Argues Over Fridge Purchase: ‘There’s Always That One Sibling’

The golden child always thinks their opinion is too important

Family issues often arise over the most unexpected things. Sometimes, though, it’s the family members themselves who create chaos among everyone. A TikToker from Los Angeles, California, shared her experience when trying to purchase a fridge for her parents, whose current fridge was broken. Yet, instead of this being an easy-to-handle situation, it ended up becoming a frustrating thing for the OP and her parents, all due to the “golden child” in the family who claimed the new fridge was “ugly.”

I’ve never heard of someone complain so much about a fridge that they are not paying for. Beggars can’t be choosers. It’s just a fridge at the end of the day you need it for basic things. #emotionallyimmatureparents #emotionallyunavailaible #eldestdaughter #eldestdaughterproblems #familydrama

The TikToker shared her fridge-buying woes after learning that her parents’ refrigerator was broken. Naturally, this woman in California suggested purchasing a new fridge, and she recommended either going to Costco or buying one online. It seems the parents went for the latter, but not without giving the TikToker some headaches.

When OP sent the link and was preparing to order the new fridge, her sister started whining about the new one being ugly, and instead started to suggest buying a used one for $200. As expected, the TikToker told her mom that buying a used one was a bad idea, as it would eventually break. However, the whiny sister continued yelling, claiming again that the new fridge was ugly. According to OP, the new refrigerator she recommended was a Whirlpool 25 cu. ft., which doesn’t look bad at all. In the end, OP ended up telling her sister that she didn’t have a say in this, as their father was going to buy it.

The cherry on top of this refrigerator debacle? The mom, who clearly favors the sister, is now upset that the father bought the fridge instead of being grateful that the family is finally getting a brand-new appliance.

As you can imagine, several users sided with the OP, as it seems there’s a “favorite sibling” situation happening in this family, which is something that many can relate to.

In the end, the OP just confirmed that the new appliance will arrive soon, but it is unclear whether the whole debacle ended and if the family members made peace with each other. Still, it’s sad to see situations like this unfold, especially when they involve a fridge that will clearly benefit the whole household.
