People can accuse others of some of the darndest things when in trouble, and one California driver thought he could pull a fast one on the police after he was pulled over. In a video taken from Reddit user PersonalStudent3204’s dashcam, the motorist in question can be seen zooming past the driver, almost hitting them while cutting them off. Karma was fortunately at play when highway patrol caught him in the act, so this driver allegedly came up with a brilliant excuse.
Well, it was at least brilliant in his head; according to Personal Student: “This guy claimed I threatened him with a firearm when he got pulled over for doing 100 in a 65.” What happened was that the officer who pulled the speeding culprit over ended up calling the dashcam driver to ask some questions.
The Culprit Allegedly Told California Highway Patrol the Dashcam’s Driver Threatened Him with a Firearm
“This guy somehow had a pic of my license plate and told them he was fleeing for his life from me,” Personal Student wrote. Of course, there was no alleged evidence for this accusation, and even the California Highway Patrol had OP’s back. “The officers watching the footage said I drive fast but I’m going with the flow and not being stupid about it. Then they jokingly asked if I want a job,” Personal Student recalled.
Redditors tuning into Personal Student’s story, along with clear proof of the dangerous driver’s maneuver from the dashcam, couldn’t believe the culprit’s outrageous accusation. “Whatttt. Devious!” exclaimed a commenter. “That is so unbelievable. We live with a lot of psychopaths…” remarked another.
Others cheered at the fact that the other driver got what he deserved for putting others in danger. “Instant karma. Gotta luv it,” chuckled a Redditor. “Ya love to see it,” agreed a second.
As to whether the claim about the gun threat has any merit, Personal Student claims he doesn’t even own a firearm. “I-5 South entering Shasta Lake area? The heat up there brings out the crazy in people,” sighed a Reddit user.
