Locals Aren’t Surprised After Florida Ranked One of The Worst States For Financial Distress: ‘Not Surprising in the Least Bit’

Not as shocking as one may think

It seems that Florida is continuing a trend many locals don’t like much, and it is ranking low in certain areas. A recent report ranks this state among the worst for financial distress. Normally, this would surprise some people, but that doesn’t seem to be the case for those living here. Many actually agree with this ranking, saying that it is expected due to how everything has become so expensive and living conditions just keep getting worse daily.

Does this surprise anyone in Florida?

One concerned Redditor from Florida shared an image from WalletHub, which shows a financial distress ranking across the country. In the image, you can already see Florida in a low spot, in the lowest five, with Kansas being the one with the most financial distress. This image, however, is from March, but the one we linked above shows information from July, and sadly, Florida is in the third spot for the most financial distress, just behind Kansas and Louisiana.

When the Redditor shared this, they posed the question, “Does this surprise anyone in Florida?” And as expected, no one is surprised at all. Among the comments, people claim that the financial distress ranking is accurate, especially since the state has become too expensive to live in. Some even mention how living conditions have decreased, making everyone’s time in Florida not as enjoyable as it may have been some years ago.

Florida Locals Agree That the State is in Financial Distress

With so many people agreeing with the recent ranking, everyone shared their comments on the Reddit post, giving their own opinions as to why the state is going through this rough patch.

“Not surprising in the least bit. Florida wages have always been low, but until the late 2010’s it was generally affordable to live just about anywhere.“

“North Florida. The amount of modified super duper modified pickup trucks I see riding around is astounding. All I think about is maxed-out credit and hand-to-mouth paychecks.“

Others have even shared that they moved out of Florida to seek better living conditions.

“I’m from Tampa; my family has been there for generations. I moved to DC last year because I got a job offer 3x what I was making in Tampa, doing literally the same job. I thought I would struggle for a while moving to a high-cost city, but it’s actually been cheaper than Tampa, AND I’m making way more.“

Ultimately, many agree that it is sad to see Florida this way, but are hopeful that things will improve soon.
