Boston Man Blocks Traffic, Makes Obscene Gestures and Takes Selfie: ‘Some People Do Need a Punch in the Face’

No shame whatsoever

Oftentimes, it’s a roulette with the kind of individuals one can encounter on the road, and for one driver in Boston, Massachusetts, they met a weird one. IAmForeverAhab posted dashcam footage on r/mildlyinfuriating, showcasing an eccentric man jaywalking across a busy street. However, he wasn’t just trying to get across; he was on a mission to be a nuisance to OP in particular, with rather vulgar behavior.

Hands held up high, the man seemingly challenges Ahab as he struts across a crosswalk-less area of the street. Without warning, the stranger suddenly starts making “obscene gestures” with his hands before leaning on the car’s hood and taking a selfie. Before going off camera, the man pats the vehicle and emotes some more before Ahab drives away.

Needless to say, Redditors were both flabbergasted and riled up that an adult pedestrian would act like this. And many hungered for violence, with one top comment reading, “As soon as he sat down, I would have hit the gas.” Another chimed in with, “Such a fine opportunity to use pepper spray on an idiot.”

Others demanded the man receive a good beating: “Some people do need a punch in the face,” wrote a user. “A-holes got way too confident because we stopped doing that,” agreed a second user in response.

The Driver Said He Wouldn’t Hurt the Boston Crosswalker Over Being a Nuisance

In both the comments and an update to his post, Ahab clarified why he didn’t and wouldn’t have done anything to the crosswalker harassing him. “I was in no danger, so self defense was not warranted,” he explained. A policeman was also nearby and would certainly not have taken kindly to a car running over a pedestrian, even if they were acting foolishly.

Despite common sense, several people in the comments demanded to know why Ahab didn’t ‘give the man what he deserved.’ OP responded, “Not risking vehicular assault over 30 seconds of some [expletive].” Some commenters were of the same mindset, with one Redditor agreeing: “Not worth going to prison over. Pedestrians always have the right of way legally. Pedestrian was 100% in the wrong. I’m just not going to lose my license and go to jail over his dumb [expletive].”

Truly, the man was evidently annoying, not just to OP, but to any cars waiting behind him. Still, hurting him or putting his life at risk for some quick catharsis wouldn’t have ended well for anyone.
