Nowadays, every single thing we hear about Trump tends to lean toward the negative spectrum, and well, with good reason. Most of what he says is outrageous enough to anger the whole country. However, it seems that he caught a break, at least for a brief and ephemeral moment, and all of that was due to a statement regarding the Lindsay Clancy case. As some of you know, her attorney tried to contact the President for help, but Trump, in a surprising move, said something that many consider made him look “human” for once.
In a recent clip that has gone viral, a reporter is interviewing Trump, and they asked about how Lindsay Clancy’s attorney allegedly called Trump to ask for a pardon. The reporter even asked the President if that was up for consideration, and his answer surprised some Americans.
In the interview, he replied that it was a sad situation, and then said, “Look, there is no winner here. No matter what you do. Three children are dead.” He then said that it isn’t a federal matter and that the state should work it out, also emphasizing that there isn’t a win there.
Many expected Trump to go off on a tangent like he usually does. Still, many saw this response as acceptable, which, oddly enough, felt a bit uncanny for citizens used to different behavior from the President.
Americans Surprised by Trump’s Grounded Response
Believe it or not, this simple, short response made people actually praise Trump, which, again, isn’t something that happens too often, especially online.
“That might actually be the most human thing he’s ever said.“
“This is, without a doubt, the single most mature, articulate, and empathetic thing this man has ever said. I am legitimately floored.“
Yet, some reacted negatively toward the President, believing it was just a stunt or a way to dismiss the topic quickly.
“He heard no winners because there isn’t a side he can appease enough to become a winner in the situation. It still boiled down to ‘how can this benefit me?’“
Regardless, it seems this surprised many citizens, who expected any answer but this one. And well, by the looks of it, despite what the Clancy’s attorney is saying, it seems that Trump won’t help the case, at least for now.
